H4 LED by Evitek F2 has achived the same focus as H4 halogen bulb - new 2018

The new F2 LED by Evitek has improved focus by using a thinner copper mounting plate.

If you have been looking for a DOT compliant bulb, you need to look at this bulb and its newer version the M2. These bulbs will draw a line in the sand from which other bulbs will be measured.....

To help understand, get your old mag light and focus the beam to a point. Now, slightly defocus the beam and it will be bigger dot. defocus it more and it becomes a donut with a dark spot in the middle. It only took a very small offset to change this pattern...

The diameter of the the H4 halogen filament coil is 0.068 inches
The F2 mounting plate is 0.037 inches. With the csp chips mounted back to back on the same plate. The emitter surface is very close to where the surface of the H4 filament is. ( ok one is round and the other is flat but now we are splitting hairs....) The net effect is that the new F2 led places the emitters at the same focus point. So the F2 will give the best tight focus on the high beam. If you remember the 3800 and the 7000 bulbs their emitters are 0.235 inches apart and they had the problem of a dark or dim spot in the middle of the beam in some headlamps....

Some said that it could not be done, but The F2 demonstrates that a Led bulb can exactly replace a halogen bulb!

This light blows the doors off all LED bulbs that came before it...

That is, this is the perfect autobahn light! It puts the light better down the road. as bright as it is it does a great job of lighting up the sides of the road too..

On the other hand the previous lights might be prefered by some because they create a wider and taller beam.
The thickness of the heat spreader effects the width and height of the beam.
So you have some choices on what beam width you prefer for your riding style.


The new F2 by Evitek is 30 watts low beam and 30 watts high beam - measured.
The mounting ring pulls off, The light snaps into place and you need to twist the low beam so that it is flat.

So if you get the F2 bulb please comment here about your impression vs whatever you had before.

There is also now another bulb by Evitek M2 (mini led headlight) that has the same focus as the F2 but at lower power. No adjust for twist (left vs right side of road). It is based on (simillar to) the T8 bulb...

I spun this off as a separate thread to just talk about this new led. My original thread is long and many may not go back to it. If this gets a lot of F2 user comments then it becomes a good resource for others.

Yes the F2 has a fan and I was concerned at the power level that there could be a problem until I read the technical brief on the phillips [now Lumileds] csp chips. It is a flip chip so there are no bond wires, the substrate heat slug is directly soldered to the copper heat spreader. So it is able to dissipate heat much better than any of the previous led chips....

I have about 2700 miles on my bike with this bulb so no early failures (but it is winter)

side of box for those who want something other than the H4, I have the 9006 in my truck and I just ordered a set of 9005's......

I recently bought the H7 version of the F2 lights and installed them in my 2011 Versys 650. I can confirm that they are very well focused, as well as very bright, just like @spiderman302 has stated. I replaced some low quality COB LED bulbs that were a complete waste of $ as their lack of focus made them a nuisance to everyone, myself included.

I'm planning on purchasing these bulbs for my wife's SUV - low beam, high beam, and fog lights. Just have to get taxes dealt with first...

I'm interested in a set of these, but am not quite sold on the idea of a fan being used on a dual sport bike. The fan-less design seems like it might be significantly more reliable when dust and water are involved.

I can't argue your logic, but I have to question how exposed the backside of your headlight is? Do you get mud up there, or just dust and water? The fan or heatsink should be able to handle dust and water, including submersion, without issue. Mud will be an issue for any cooling system, just like it is for the radiator or cooling fins of the engine.

For what it's worth, I've been running fan cooled LED bulbs for 3 years without any fan issues. Mostly street, but dusty gravel and muddy trails as well. In all weather conditions, from summer thunderstorms to fall snow storms. And weekly bike washing as well. The fans have gotten dusty and wet without problem.

"including submersion" ouch, I think I would worry about my air box sucking water into the engine at that point....... Yes leds can be thrown into to a bucket of water and still continue to work. If you did that to a halogen bulb it would crack and fail instantly. Halogens must be protected from water but leds do not. The dual sports that seem to have a problem are the ones that are totally sealed. The back cover over the back of the bulb prevents the fan from cooling the bulb (no air flow) and leads to the demise of the led due to heat. It only takes a little air flow to keep these leds alive. the fans are very robust. they are the same as a cpu fan. my current cpu has run 24/7 for 8 years (~4 million miles). About every year I blow out the cloud of dust. It just keeps spinning. Cpu fans have no brushes. They are electronically driven. The fanless ones are ok as long as you are always moving or there is constant airflow from another source.... I can not speak for mud I live in the southwest, our river bottoms are dry.... The day they have water in them you do not want to be near them!

I have an exposed fan on my DRZ400 and I have put them on 8 other dr350 sheriff back county patrol/rescue bikes... no fan failures yet....

Ok here is another closer look. The leds emitter surfaces are actually 90 mills apart, but that is extremely close to the 68 mill diameter of the halogen filament.....

I got the one from TOPMAX overnight. It is a 23.8 watt bulb, the back to back emitters are 105 mills, --- but not so good

The important thing here is that you the consumer know there have been technical improvements in LED bulbs. First it was the shield, now it is the focus. The more you know will help you make better choices. If you try any of the other bulbs with better focus then let everyone know here. I can only do so much. I am sure with time there will be more options.

Again this is a technical thread so NO vendor bashing. Lets just talk about what works and does not work.

A word on LED bulbs with fans:

I have LED bulbs with fans (2 separate manufacturers) on the foglights of two of my trucks. I can tell you for 100% certain that they both pump ridiculous amount of dirt and water at the exposed fans constantly during bad weather. I'm not talking a little squirt. I get mud and water showering my side view mirror bodies. Anything in the fenderwell area has to be getting drowned and shot. They are completely unprotected by shields.

In both cases, I am going almost 3 years without an issue on either set. Fans come on, lights work perfect, and they don't seem to care what they go through.

I would not, and did not hesitate to put this style of bulb in every single two-wheel vehicle I have. I have zero failures to date, including when the radiator in my Kymco opened up and showered the LED's fan with hot engine coolant for 2 minutes.

Even the one set of LEDs I bought where a failure did occur, it was the emitter chips. The fans still worked perfectly. 13 sets of LED bulbs from a wide range of manufacturers, and I have yet to see a fan go down.

Are these fans audible? Do they interfere with communication device reception (Sena)? I have seen photos of various brands, and it's rather vague what is involved with installation. Some photos show an auxilliary "box" and a lot of extra wiring that would have to be hidden away. I ride naked bikes and there is no room to hide additional wiring/controllers.

You can hear them if you are sitting with the engine off with a luxury gas truck, and you are standing right in front. Start the engine, and you can't hear it.

No way you hear it on pretty much any bike with the engine running. Probably no luck hearing it with a helmet on at all.

Select a kit that has just a bulb and a plug. I use a lot of H4 kits on my two-wheel stuff, and none of them have a box.

The fans on my F2 bulbs are quiet. They can't be heard over the idling engine. No interference with my Sena SMH5-FM. Yes, with these bulbs there is a control box that will need to be secured close to the headlight.

Was there a link to a source for the Evitek lights, or did I miss it? I did notice links for the clone versions....

why is the shielding different between the H4 and H7 bulbs ?

the H4 bulb is dual filament and has the graves shield built into the bulb next to the low beam filament. The internal shield creates the sharp cut off that the H4 system has. The H7 is a single filament bulb that could be used in a regular headlight or a projector headlight. The regular headlight shapes the beam with many lens to create the low beam pattern and has a soft cut off. The projector headlight has the shield in a separate part of the system. The shield could be fixed or moveable. lots of variations... now if you have a bike with the H7 bulb using the new F2 H7 led bulb with its better focus will create a sharper beam pattern....
