Curious on thoughts: This 1997 Cali + Ural is available near me. He's currently asking $3,500. To my understanding everything works and it is rideable, but current owner has seldom ridden it and I'm not certain I will get any substantial history on it. It all looks to be in fair shape, but not great. The mounting fabrication is home made and it looks solid, but I think replacement with a DMC would be warranted for safety. What say ye?

@Derek_S , you are 100 percent right, good bike, good sidecar, but looks like a drunken bloke stranded in the Australian Outback forged together old truck frame parts to attach the sidecar to the bike.

(my apologies to all our Aussie mates that actually build good rigs)

For that price, it would be worth checking out, test driving it, if it tracks straight, then buy it, and order a proper mounting kit from one of the suppliers

Ok 3500 not bad but it may not be as simple an up grade as you like, I would doubt DMC subframe would be for a Ural with ball and socket mounting, I believe it would require a new subframe for the tug and cut the mounts off the Ural and install more modern hardware.
You could be in for a couple thousand dollars work. Since your on the east coast I'd check with Claude at http://www.freedomsidecars.com/ or Bob Wark https://warkshop.com/

Unless you have some welding and fabrication skills and want to do it yourself.

Bruce, WHY is the nose of that Duster sidecar pointing up so much in the front ? Was this owned by a snobbish aristocrat that turned his nose up at all the little people, or by a bushman that knew he would be dodging 'roos, and figured if he hit the roo just right with the upturned nose of the sidecar, he could slide the sidecar over the roo, and catch a little air ?

That brings me to this one, which is a 2000 Jackal with an asking price of 6k. I believe this one was previously posted but I cannot find the post, now. This one looks to be all sorted out. At 6k it doesn't feel like a 'steal' but I couldn't build it for less. I believe it has DMC forks and mounting kit, based on the seller's description. I have never owned a guzzi, but as an airhead enthusiast I think I'd like it, despite the 'cruiser' styling.

More pics. Any thoughts on this one? He reports that it stumbles off of idle so it may need some TB tuning, but fully ride-able. It is about 3 hours from me.

The Cali Guzzi rig , someone suggested the mounts might have been fashioned from a truck frame . I've never seen a truck frame that thick , maybe bulldozer instead.
The Jackal front end is a UNIT from England . Good stuff.
My only pick on that rig is how far out the sidecar is spaced. It looks like it could come in closer a few inches.
That one would be easier to get right than the Cali one which would need new mounts and the Jackal has the better front end.
