My first BMW rally was with the BMW RA at the Biltmore in Asheville. Got out of my tent one morning and there is a Heritage Softail parked a few tents down.

Me, being as tactful as a brick, “so…. I gotta ask….?”

Guy was with his BMW Buddy. Said he came to a few BMW rallys and everyone was so cool, the bikes were fun to look at, all in all a good time. And yea, people ask but nobody ever gave him a hard time or anything. Said he just liked coming and yes, always on his Heritage.

So IMHO, I’d ride whatever and enjoy the event!

I have a ticket but, won’t be there. Memorial Service for my mom and I got family coming in. Mom would understand but like… at the chapel in my gear with a bike idling outside would be frowned upon by my wife’s side of the family …

Didn't we already have this sub-thread about attending BMW rallys on something else.

Much of the time I was with Chilton I was the one Harley rider among a sea of BMWs. I've attended many BMW rallys both on my Harleys and on BMWs, and on Guzzis.

Things like the BMW MOA Finger Lakes rally by Watkins Glen, the BMW BMW (Bikers of Metropolitan Washington) Square Root Rally, the MA Damn Yankee rally.

Never once have I had a bad reception.

Though one time I think all the BMW geeks at the Damn Yankee Rally probably wanted to kill my buddy and I when we loudly drank while keeping the bonfire going till dawn on a Saturday night/Sunday morning. But I'll say as the night weened more and more people kept bringing us their beer to finish and damnit I wasn't gonna let them down!

Ive been using that stuff for over 20 years, since it was Honda Cleaner. Its the only reason my bike which lives outside under a cover looks so good. My 2017 KTM has about 4000 off-road miles and looks like its sitting on the showroom floor. The guy who makes it has been through the ringer. It was such a great product that he was supplying it to Honda branded as Honda cleaner and Harley Davidson. Then Honda added a scent or some nonsense and patented it as their own and basically stole it from him. After a long battle the court sided with him and he was able to sell it again as http://www.originalbikespirits.com/about-us/. I have a case of it in my shed and will continue to support him, it is simply the best cleaner polish out there.

That is pretty wild! Never knew that it was the same stuff as the honda cleaner. Now I'm gonna have to buy a case!

    I have pulled the trigger on a Sportglide and now have the 8 - 10 week wait . . . . . . . .

I have a couple of mates a few years older than me (i'm 57) that have Street Glides and wheeling those big old girls around is not something I envisage I will be doing into my 60's and beyond. The Sportglide seems like a perfect compromise to me.

    We shall see . . . .

    Cheers

I have an FLSTS with floorboards and an FXSTS with factory forwards and I have done big miles on both. I think I will just ride it around for a while and see how I like it. Apart from a stage II kit with S&S 2 into 1 Super Street exhaust (which I believe aren't too noisy and follow the lines of the stock header pipes) and torque Cam, I don't think I will fiddle too much with it - but we all know how that goes.

Well - thats a funny story. I spent quite some time deliberating between the Deluxe Black and the White. I finally settled on the white and placed the order. A couple of days later I was taking to someone about it and my missus reminded me that she agreed to me buying it (gotta keep the cook happy) as long as I got the black one. Back on the phone to the dealer and now I have the deluxe black one coming. I'm not particularly fussed - a new bike is a new bike. The last "New" Harley I bought was a 1985 XLS which I still have.

Did a little riding and camping this weekend. Headed home early due to impending tropical system rain dump.

It is a great bike. Of the 7 Harleys I have owned, it is my fav all time. I'm 70 and plan on riding it for a long time. With the bags on and tall windscreen from Fergusson with wings, makes a good medium distance tourer.

Had to replace my RG. Picked this up on Friday. I’m really loving it.
