Had to get out for a quick ride. Nice and cool in the mountains.
Put stock pipes and air cleaner back on, WOW! Sounds good and rides good, almost like a bunch of engineers worked on installing this from the factory. My question is how do I figure out if the prior owner changed the mapping in the ECU? Seems to run well. 06 Heritage Softail classic.
Sniff the exhaust, if it's rich, you'll need a PV-1 to remap. If it's not rich smelling and the MPG is good you should be ok.
What pipes and air cleaner did you remove?
Rinehart 2 into 2 pipes, didn't really look like they even had a muffler.
The air cleaner was an Arlen Ness? Couldn't really tell, no picture. It used the stock ham can, removed the backer plate and had a round K and N style filter.
You can have your local dealer reflash the ECM back to stock. Maybe half an hour labor. They can also tell if it's tuned with the Digital Technician. But have it reflashed there's often an updated version of the map available for older bikes that runs better.
Sniff the exhaust? Yeah that'll work. I've had so many guys come in and tell me the bike is rich 'cause they can smell it. Well they're typically very lean. A lean mixture is hard to light and what they're smelling is unburnt fuel. It will fool an O2 sensor too by the unburnt fuel cooling the sensor compound the lean issue..
As far as I know there is no O2 sensor on this bike. I will see what the dealer says. An hour of labor sounds fair to me.
Nah the '06 Softies were still open loop. No O2 sensors 'til '07 and the 96 C.I. engine.

Damn....a stock FatBoy. Nice.
Pal has a 98 Fatboy. Top end is somewhere near 90 mph
Also posted in the churches thread, but might as well put it here as well.
Was out playing in the Rockies on the s10 when the water pump let go. So played a few days on a friends bike
Then mom gave me her bike to finish the trip out since her and dad trailered out. They hauled my bike back.
My 2012 CVO Street Glide with factory painted matching medium tour pack.
Loaded up for a 2 day ride with some friends.
G'day mate, sure are. They have dropped a bit from around $1.70ish for 91 up to $1.90ish for 98.
Starting another day at the garage
Thanks. From Central City CO.
