    Ha! @Fireman1000

@Project Mayhem if we do, I'll hit you up.

We made camp on BLM land outside of Cuba.
Not the greatest spot, but it was getting dark.
Dropped the beast twice! That sucked.

Actually worried about wildlife tonight...gun is loaded, but I think if anything smells us, it will likely run the other way.
I swear I heard something when we were setting up the tent.

    On to some pics.
The drive from Albuquerque to Cuba was awesome. Very scenic.

Mileage for the day. Was supposed to have only been around 400. It seemed shorter though now that we get to look at stuff.

This is all I got from when we stopped for camp. Was in a hurry to set up before dark.
The ground is really super soft.

I forgot to mention we went thru a dust devil on the highway @ about 80-83mph.
I was watching it cross the highway and thought cool!
When we went through it, it felt like someone grabbed the bars and jerked and pushed the bike real quick.
Scared the crap out of me. I didn't think it was cool after that. :rofl

No animal attacks happened in the night:clap

We did get up to pee around 330am and got to see more stars than we ever have.
You could see the milky way and it was incredible.

Now to figure out how to get to Telluride without joining the fire department.

Got up around 6 today and out of the tent around 630-7ish. Bike was packed up and we were on the road around 8.
    Campsite pic this morning.
    20180619_070957.jpg

I tried to climb this little hill and failed miserably so I got to pick the bike up first thing today. No more of that!
I was in 2nd gear for some reason. It's my first time riding...

Brunch at Ann's Restaurant in Farmington, NM.
Giant pancakes. We could only eat 1 each, but of course got 2.

Yesterday we made it to Colorado!

Stopped at Shiprock since Nathan actually paid attention in school that day and remembered the name when I told him we were passing through.
I had no idea what it was.
That was a good detour. We climbed up to touch it and get a rock while wearing moto boots and pants, luckily, it was only ~87deg

    20180619_123143.jpg

4 corners was a shit-show and basically a waste of 10$...it was fun watching the tourists wait in line for pictures with their selfie sticks.
We walked around all 4 states and left.
    20180619_141355.jpg

Made it to Mountain Village to @MountainsandRivers house around 430 or so to swap rubber. Then they took us on a gondola tour and we had dinner then they let us crash there. Nathan played with their kid Dylan (sp?) while I changed tires. Great people and it was awesome of them to help us out.

Today we left mountain village for Telluride and to get some passes under our (my) belt.
Had breakfast at Baked in Telluride (delicious).

    20180620_090617.jpg

Then we headed to (lower?) black bear to check out bridal veil falls and more importantly, an old mine.
He found some rocks with gold, and we were off to Imogene.

After Bridal Veil we went to Imogene for our first pass.
I was worried once we started up it, since it is just us 2 out there, and the consequences are severe.
I let some air out of the tires a couple of times and when the front was around 26, and the rear 23, that seemed to be the sweet spot. The GT723s are great tires btw.

We got to Tomboy, and Nathan was really excited. He got off the bike and basically started running or walking as fast as possible to everything he could.
I told him many, many, many times he needed to chill and take it easy, but he's 11.
About 25mins later, he was in tears and telling me he was going to throw up and he had a headache.
There wasn't much I could do for him, so we relaxed for a bit and he just had to suck it up.

Just passed Tomboy is a short steeper section with some loose rocks to the left, and that is where I dropped it:lol3
Lack of speed and poor line choice and we got in the loose stuff and flopped over.
There were 2 dudes in a side by side that came and helped me pick it up and at that point, Nathan could barely walk. He waited there while I got turned around to go back for a 2nd try.
I got to a lower section and when turning around, dropped it again:imaposer
I got it picked up and now I'm really worried about what I've gotten us into.
Then I charged the section again, used the throttle this time, and made it right up.
I had to sit with Nathan for about 15 mins or so and told him we had to keep going.

It was all worth it! (My poor buddy was was tears in this pic, and kept saying we needed to get down to the trees that make the good air)
    20180620_131252.jpg

Nathan while he was still happy running around Tomboy!
    20180620_114626.jpg

We are now super wealthy btw.

On the way down to Ouray, we got to see a snow wall! That was neat!
    20180620_132914.jpg 20180620_132924.jpg

Unfortunately, we didn't get to do any other passes since I didn't want to get him up high again that day, so we stabbed it to Gunnison. :(

We got to the Airbnb where we will be staying for 3 nights, went and had pizza at Pie-Zan's in Gunnison (pretty good pizza) and finally took a shower!:rofl5 days of road grime feels great to wash off.

I unloaded the bike for some easier adventuring. It's so much better.
This morning we had to get some sandals. Camping without easy shoes sucks!
70$ later, we each had some flippy floppies.
I hate flip flops, but I couldn't spend 90$ on a single pair of sandals.
After that, we tried to go swimming in the Blue Mesa Reservoir, it wasn't too cold, but we are babies. If you can't just jump in, we don't like it!
We did walk out to waist deep for a while.
When we left, we did a sandy beach run on the bike and lost all 4 flip flops!! :fpalm Went back and found them. :clap didn't drop it in the sand either!
    20180621_121652.jpg

Then we headed to Crested Butte via a nicely graded dirt road. Had some pizza at Mike's (awesome, go there) then went to find Schofield.
Got to emerald lake and saw the road closure due to snow, which was cool, so we stopped, ate some cookies from Mike's and threw snowballs at each other.

    20180621_175356.jpg

After that, we found the hard section of Schofield, but I turned around at the fast flowing creek. It was about 630 or so, and I was worried something might happen and we would be screwed. We will try it tomorrow (I hope so)

    20180621_182224.jpg

Today was fun and relaxing. Tomorrow we will go to American Flag mountain.

Today we went to American Flag Mtn.
First, I had to adjust the steering stem bearing, which ended up taking about 3 hours.
2 of the handlebar bolts stripped the inside of the bar risers.
Luckily, Sun Sports Unlimited had everything to fix it.

We headed up Cement Creek road to Itialian Creek and took the high line. That didn't go so well, but we made it through with some bike walking after I dropped it. Video of that incident is uploading. This 50-100yd section of walking drained me!
Leaning that bike into you so there's very little chance of it falling off the mountain is tough.

    20180622_140350.jpg

We shot up the mountain trail and made it to the top for a bit of rest and enjoyed the view. It was windy! Nathan got to see the critters up close.
    20180622_144957.jpg

Then we went down the other side following Italian Creek and found an abandoned mine, which we, of course, checked out. This one had the door to the mineshaft broken and I let Nathan peep inside.
He said it was one of the coolest things he's ever seen.

    20180622_162720.jpg

Then we made it to the Taylor Park Reservoir, which had the widest, longest gravel road ever. We stopped and had dinner in Almont at the Smokehouse which was tasty!

    Made it to Moab!
We took the Rimrocker trail almost all of the way. My dumbass didn't get gas in Nucla since it didn't seem like I needed it (I know, stupid).
    20180623_165543.jpg
Incredible scenery, fun riding, and we will be taking it on the way back. At least until we get to the Uncompahgre forest since that was pretty much boring loose gravel.

Anyway. We bailed out and ended up seeing this behind us, which was awesome. We came down the part that is in the shadows.
    20180623_191257.jpg
Then took the road to Moab and stopped at the first gas station.
Sitting here at camp which sucks because it was getting dark and we couldn't keep looking.
We have a huge Mexican party behind us and a camper with 2 lights on above us. Neither are that bad, but still. Tomorrow we will find a spot that glampers can't access.

Nice shot of Paradox valley. The paradox being the valley runs north south, but the Dolores River currently cuts it west to east there.
If you back track through there, instead of the Uncompahgre Plateau, take the left onto 141 to Gateway and on to Whitewater. Beautiful curvy paved road, very little traffic. Stop at the pullouts that have history markers. There is the "Hanging Flume" there, remnant of a sluice hung off the cliff wall, as part of a failed hydro mining project from the late 1800s. At the Gateway Canyons there is a cool auto museum to tour. Entry fee is high, around $20-30 I think, but there are some cool cars. Also tour their Driven facility which has a variety of rental cars. Nate can sit in things like GT40s, Porsches, etc. in there.
