If you can find the leak, stop at Walmart and get a cheap bike tube patch kit. Way better than duct tape.

Got a hotel last night in Laramie. Washed 5 days of stank off in the overly chlorinated pool and hot tub...

Slept great! Didn't have to worry about bears or wild hyenas or mountain ligers or any other scary wild animals.

Wyoming was pretty boring at first.

Then we detoured onto a dirt road and got some really nice scenery.
    20180702_100435.jpg

Today we hit up Mt Rushmore. Stayed way longer than I had planned, but Nathan was enjoying it, so, whatever. We had ice cream and walked around everywhere we could.

I need to crop fat dudes thumb out of the pic. Lol
    20180702_145637.jpg

Did a sweet cliff jump on the way out. I was scared and didn't think he would do it. There were some other dudes up there and that's what made him jump.
We just pulled moto gear off and were in our base layers. Good times.
I had to swim about 47miles to get my flippy floppies and I'm a weak swimmer, that was stupid.

Eating pizza now and headed to Badlands for a evening drive thru and either camping or getting a hotel. The trip is almost over and that really sucks.

Somewhere at the start of the day

We tried to get to the badlands but had a navigational error.
The POI took us nowhere, and google took us even further from nowhere.
We ended up about 25-30miles the wrong way.
Technically, we were in the badlands, but not where we wanted to be. The part we were in was little sections. Still cool, but not as cool as the main spot.

We turned around and ran out of daylight, but still got to see some bison and the cool badlands.

Now we're in a not great motel. Oh well. Driving at night out here sucks.

    We made it home!
    20180704_185205.jpg

The last 2 days were just long, hot, boring highway days.
This morning we ate breakfast at the I80 world's largest truck stop. (Not that good btw)
Didn't plan on stopping there, it just worked out.

We had a great trip and I would do it again tomorrow if I could.

We spent 105.5 hrs on the bike, rode 5394 miles in 19 days, and went into 13 states (14 if you count Ohio).
I wish I knew how many off road miles we did, but I would estimate only around 500-600.

The only thing I did to the bike was adjust the chain once (it was a brand new chain and sprockets), and tried to tighten the steering head bearing (it will need looked at now, it's not right). I never even lubed the chain...
I did spray the radiator and lower part of the bike after Moab for about 3mins at a carwash.

Having a son that now is a grown up 30 year old makes this read extra special, one of my favorites to ever read on here. Thanks for sharing

^^ What he said. Make sure you find a way to save the text & pics outside of ADV - there's some trick to saving it as a .pdf but can't remember - anybody?

    Thanks for taking us along!

Good on you for doing this with your son. It's a never forget it thing, and he never will. 'Rode double with my boy when he was young, and later when he was ride ready we did Heart of The West together. It's probably the first and last big adv ride we will do as he is married now and baby on the way, while the years are piling up on me. Take the chances when you get them!
