...and there was a fatality Friday with the motorcyclist apparently passing in double yellow.

And if you hadn't yielded to their lunacy, you might have gotten beaten like that Asian driver in NYC
and blamed for the whole thing. Mob mentality.

I drove from Ignacio to Durango about 6pm last night. I observed 30-40 motorcycles headed toward Ignacio.

Not one single rider or passenger was wearing a helmet.

I was expecting hundreds. I'm thinking the rally must be a bust this year.
Drove through downtown Ignacio again around 10:30 might have seen a half dozen bikes at the gas station, etc.

Either that or they all went to bed early....

No helmets on anyone in the group I saw, and a few rding in the ever-inspiring holdup victim position. My wife, who is just learning to ride, and I were discussing how you would stop or swerve in an emergency from that position.

I walked up and down Main Avenue in Durango tonight checking out the license plates on all the bikes.

90+% were from 4-Corners States --- Arizona, Utah, NM, and Colorado.

A handful from Texas, a few from Kansas. Less than 3 from any other particular state, at least in the Main Avenue lineup.

What that tells ME is this rally is primarily a REGIONAL event. Based on weather riders can make a last minute decision to come or not.

In years past EVERY parking spot along Main was filled with bikes by 6pm. This year less than 50% of the spaces were despite GREAT weather -- suggesting a major drop in attendance.

Does this particular brand of rider ever ride very far? I know there are HD Iron Butt riders, but they're not pirates with their arms stretched above their heads. If they do, they've got a lot more stamina than I do. They look so uncomfortable, and have so little control. I wouldn't think the passes would even be any fun on those ridiculous bikes.

Sorry, even as a motorcyclist, I can't disagree with that sentiment.

I'm also a Broadway mixer and nothing is more embarrassing, as a motorcyclist, than a bunch of "ruged individualists" who find it necessary to advertise their tiny penises by revving their straight piped two wheel farm implements right outside the theater doors as they're caught in the traffic on 44th street.

Fuck those knob-gobbling fuck wits and the "iron horses" they rode in on.

Some responses in this thread just prove there are enough small minded idiots to fill the saddles on a lot of different kinds of motorcycles...

That may be true but when was the last time you read about some motorist being terrorized by a pack of WingDingers.

Riding a HD doesn't make you a bad person but almost without exception bad people who ride MC's ride HD.

I didn't mean to bump this as a bashing thread. It was meant as a polite reminder that the roads are going to be busy with tourists. I'll have to read the last page or so again next year before bumping.

...and I read it and still decided to bump.
Getting busy out there already. About 100 HD's at the Holiday Inn.
If we are going to bash the HD riders, let's at least have a requirement that you post a picture.
