I stayed out of town and off the highways for the weekend. Busy everywhere.
Seems like those groups haven't found the central southwest yet. The Wet Mountains and Sangre de Cristo Mountains haven't been bothered by those kind of gangs. Cripple Creek is sometimes a scary place but I just go up there in the mornings for Bronco Billy's $.49 breakfast. Also I ride mostly during the week and mornings. . .as the weather gets cooler they might disappear. I am ready for the tourista's to be gone and get back our state but then there is the hunters. It never ends.
And then the skiers....
They all account to allowing us to live the mountain lifestyle.
Bring it on.
I heard there's a hill climb at Purgatory this weekend.
Motorcycle Hill Climb
Date: September 1, 2019
Time: 12:00pm - 3:00pm
#1 Skier Place
This is sure to be one of the most exciting events of the season! Come watch as competitors attempt to race their motorcycles straight up the hill from the base area. All the action takes place right on Pandemonium ski run, so the view from the ski beach will be epic.
It all goes down from 12 – 3pm.
This family-friendly event is part of the Four Corners Motorcycle Rally.
I am working this weekend or I would definitely watch the hill climb. That is some crazy stuff.
Nothing brings out a crowd like extended swingarms.
And nitro powered two strokes.
Shit, that might be fun to watch.
What? a local hillclimb and I didn't even know?!
It's only for 3 hours?
and only street legal 700cc-sh bikes. anyone have a sportster I can borrow for 3 hours?
This year I visited Sturgis the week BEFORE the rally, and I visited Durango immediately AFTER Labor Day. Great trips both, not crowded, open roads, just awesome, especially riding north out of Durango.
