The next day. Good morning Mason.
I go outside to access mechanical # 2 I decide to go to the town car wash to clean the oil and dirt off the bike before I get to work on der bike. BARB the bike have a name? From this shot you can see mechanical #1 & #2.
Morning shot out the backyard you can see the old mine road the Anaconda mine used to use
Of course I take the back way to town via Anaconda mine.one of the many dirt piles from the hole.
And another its hard to see the immenseness of the piles.
The Pit thats one Big hole like the sign says 1mile long ½ miles wide 810 feet deep
Over by the Hwy. theres another pile thats at least 2 miles long! and I believe the mine covers 11 sq. miles :eek1 I can just imagine the devastation in South Central Alaska if the Pebble Mine project was to go through, stuff like the devastation of the surrounding area contaminated ground water like Arsenic, Uranium and such.
Weed Heights a community the mine built for the miners right next to the pit.
Welcome to Yerington
Didnt take many pix. In town just washed the bike and got a espresso this is the only place in town to get one.The Hearts Desire
Back at the hacienda, Hi Mason.
I tend to mechanical #2 fork seals dont forget your safety glasses Hi Ace
Going back together
So... how'd the kroket taste? I'm getting a mental picture of a sort of nasty jelly sammich. Can't be right if he bagged 53k of 'em, can it?
O the Kroket's yes a wrapped jelly thingy kind of like a pancake but alittle harder. They are open on both ends so when you take a bite the jelly comes shooting out the end.. the outer part not bad the innards taste like au not like homemade.
Jelly taco made w/ a pancake? Sounds like the subway was a good call.
And thanks for this too.
Pebble mine? No f'n way!
Get mechanical #2 finished up and the family decides were going to Lake Tahoe everybody loads into the Minivan but theres no room for me dam looks like I have to ride the bike
A Sign of things to come
Following the family Minivan heading south down Hyw. 339
And on the right we have The Lost Drive-In of Yerington
Humm Mason valley
Im just A
As you drive south the road turns to Hyw. 208 though Wilson Canyon and some more awesome twisty didnt take pixs. Was having too much fun trying to drag the bags, I think this road is something out of Need for Speed or something not very long thou.
Nice little Recreation site on the weekends this place is full of dirt bikes.
Another sign of things to come
I lost the family sometime back thinking there were going to have lunch at Topaz Lake Resort I turn left at 395 to Topaz Lake
Nope not there I turn around
I high tail-it back up 395 north to try and catch up with the family but had to make another u-turn for a avoidance maneuver so I end up way-up here
Above is Intersection of 208 & 395
Hyw. 208 coming in from the top 395 running left to right in the pic.
Somebodys track down there I seen a sign that said winners circle but didnt check it out looks interesting, something to checkout next time
Pic. above was takin from this trail.
It just happens this trial gos over to Hyw. 89 From 395 across the Cal. Border
I end-up here
Hyw.4 looks pretty nice but I had to make a right to Lake Tahoe.
Welcome to Markleeville
I Hangout for a bit.
Maybe we should call it Harleeville
Another pretty drive 89 is.

Good morning Mason
I have oranges & grapes for breakfast today.
that orange is bright enough to wake me up just looking at it
Well it wasnt all fun and games I did have to work (sucks) all that I try I just cant seem to get away from it And there it is a 1951 Chevrolet 235-6 powerglide from what grandma tells me it dropped a valve
So I needed to get an engine hoist calling around there seems the only one for the whole city that has been rented out for passed 3 months
Well being a farming town I decide we get a ft.end loader well that didnt farm out so we get a fork lift from this place some nice people there.
Here I come u pile Im going to pull your cherry
AU shit Im stuck
We get her unstuck and here we go
Dam what a boat anchor
Time for a donut break I work for DONUTS. A new place that makes Mexican style donuts ?
This guy was singing at the counter hes Italian isnt he?
<embed width="430" height="355" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" src="https://s3.amazonaws.com/advrider-photobucket-images/images/v/vid19.photobucket.com_albums_b190_Hackymoto_thatsamorea.flv"></embed>
The carnage seems we have a broken valve spring Off with its head
Not what you want to see, a broken valve stuck in the top of the piston and a gouged up cylinder
From getting the fork lift stuck bring it back to the rental place and the donut break, that took all-day no bike ride today
Spending quality time with Mason
Im going to call this 2-up to Bodie on the Gs Thanks two Luv2lean for the heads-up
MotoMama wanted to go for a little ride today so I say lets go over Mickey Pass she was a little hesitant but I got her to see it my-way
Warning lots of pix. Wish I could show my route from my gps Id put it up here but I can't seem to make it happen
This shot stolen from luv2lean it shows the trail over Mickey Pass behind Weed Heights
I was to busy getting up there to take pix. At the trail head, besides it starts from somebodys backyard It starts off a little soft and gets packed down towards the top. Ive got plenty of photos when I return solo.
Shot of MotoMama on the other side of the pass
There are roads (trails) every where back here from the old mining days
We make a left south down Smith Valley.
And the XM played After the Gold Rush by Neal Young
After a couple of miles we see some pillars to the far left they where hard to see from the middle of the valley must have been 2-3 miles from the trail we where on. I was kind of looking for them because of Luv2Lean had some shots of them.
Came to find out later this used to be a town site with a bunch of houses a round here.
Lots of garbage here its everywhere and burned. Kind of had a funky smell here to, like a toxic waste dump thats all burned garbage on the left. Far right is Artesia Lake it's dryed up now.
I didnt take more photos in the valley had to pay attention to the trail I didnt want to go down with Mamma on the back. Anyways we got a late start and we wanted to get to Bodie
Took HWY 338 south out of Smith kind of a boring road long strait Ho Humm
Welcome to California
338 turns into182 at the border into Bridgeport a left on to 395 to 270 and into Bodie nice set of twistys 270 is. a little cold and windy today.
Ill let the photos do the talking
This ones for you Tom
By the looks of things around here it seems the people had it pretty well back then.
MotoMamma had enough time to go.
On the way out we spot a heard of sheeeeeppp ..BARB Wheres the Shearers
