Looks like we will be here for a while, SA border closed, we can get back in but need to have 3 tests and isolate for 14 days. We have a contract on our house in SA so cant go there as it will be contaminated and need to be cleaned.
If we hang around here and the border is reopened in a week we might be able to get home, maybe. LOL.

    What an adventure.

Mrs is out of hospital and we are in a cabin in the Bunbury Discovery park. They have given us a 20% discount and have offered to help in any way they can with local transport n stuff.

Thanx for the suggestions and offers, we are looking at all the options, luckily are not in a rush.

If and when your bride can fly you could send her home and you follow up on the bike as i am sure some one this end could meet the plane to make it easyer for you.

Yep just pricing flights from Perth to Adelaide and buses from Bunbury to Perth and looks like it may be the go. Pickup in Adelaide is the easy bit.

Hi Boxa, sorry to hear of your circumstances.
One other option is just to buy cheap van or ute, chuck bike & gear in drive home sell it when your done with it?
Had to do this once myself, worked out ok, only out of pocket a couple of $100 after it was all done.
    Best of luck DWR

Anyone likely to be driving from Perth to the east that could help get an old bike to its new home (preferably Sydney, but Adelaide, Canberra or Melbourne could all work!). I may have just bought an old bike that I need to get back here to restore and help keep me sane in these limited travel times!

Obviously happy to pay some money, but hopefully not the $$$$$ asked for by the bike and car shipping outfits. I have also asked not the Truckit site to see if there are any takers ... The bike's only worth a a few hundred bucks!

So bit of an update, we bought a ute and will put the bike on the back and head off back to SA today. We decided that we didn't want to separate and wanted to finish the trip so this is the best option for us.
Thanx for the suggestions, now just got to get the bike on the back. Park manager has a set of ramps and has offered to help so should be easy.

Another update, home safe, now we need to pack the house as it sold while we were away.

Ute ran like a charm so we took some scenic detours, ill get a RR together once we are in the new house. Settlement is on the 6th so will be busy for a while.

Thanx for the good wishes and advice.

She is doing well thanx, just got the moon boot off the other day and is hobbling around quite well.

The xrays showed that the Orthopaedic Surgeon had tied the broken bones together with what looks like a button either side wlth some string.

We are settling in at the shack that has become our home. One really big posative is we/she has no stairs to contend with out here.

Still getting round to a RR when i get a spare minute.

Good to hear that she is doing ok, every breaks different, my surgeon said that those strings were an option in my foot if it was required to bones needed to be held in place within the joint but a plate on the fibula and two screws in the tibia alone did the trick.
now that it's fully healed I have a big ugly scar and can feel the plate and screws if I rub my fingers on it and I also feel my riding boots rubbing on it.
@sidetrack one had exactly the same breaks and reinforcing I had around two weeks apart, his wounds healed quickly and really well and had almost no pain after operation, mine was the complete opposite and I was five months off work.

Anyone in Bendigo area? Solo lady rider in need of a safe place to unroll a swag: bike's got no front brakes, a crap headlamp and she's been going since first light.

My brother is 150km away just past Yea.

Call me on 0433877478 if she wants to bunk down there. If he's not home, unlikely, the shed is open and dog is scared shitless.

Thnx but it's too far at this time for her - she's hunting out some accommodation in Bendigo itself - probably a caravan park.

If it's as busy there as it is here in WA, good luck.

This might be one for the stealth camping thread.

IE: the rotunda in the park.
