Hi, this is for sale locally. Havent personally seen it yet. According to the seller there are no numbers on the pump. I am trying to find specs and see if parts are available. It seems to be a 2 stage. 2 hp motor which appears to be origional.

1 stage and probably slow yet adequate for topping off a tire.
Two stage has a high-pressure and low-pressure pistons per cylinder.
How much air do you need?

3 stage. Follow the path of air from the filter (housing).

it looks like 2 of the cylinders have filter housings (one packed with white stuff ) which would be 1st stage, then the one without would be 2nd. i am guessing though. I found some old Speedaire pumps that look the same but are single stage

As stated, this is a two stage Champion pump. If it is not worn out, it is a very good compressor. Grainger used Champions for their Dayton and apparently, some Speedaire units as well. Champion is now a Gardner Denver owned company.

Those air filters do not fill me with confidence. See if you can pull the valves and do a quick inspection of the bores. Any excess scoring or oil on the piston crowns is bad news, although a light misting with some debris in it is not uncommon. Parts should be easy to source if you like a project. If you can get it to run, try closing off each filter with the palm of your hand and see if it draws a vacuum. This is a quick and dirty test for bad first stage valves.

Closest match I can find is a Dayton Speedair 3Z176b, although that one has a reed valve head, not a poppet valve like this one. It's possible this has the same model number but it is an older style, or it may be a totally different model. Dollars to donuts it's the same below the heads. I don't know if you will get parts for something this old.

Before you state throwing time and money at it ,flip it over and tap around on the bottom with a small hammer and make sure the tank isn't rusting through from the inside. You can hear the soft spots.
