    Howdy,

In the final stages of prepping the bike for the ALCAN, and found something a little disturbing... It was hidden under some wires...

    I found it right here.

Crack looks like it's a third of the way around the tube... Maybe this is why Kawasaki designed the subframe bolts to shear, to protect the subframe :lol3 Anyway, any fixes for this problem... It's a bit beyond JB Weld :deal

    Is this a weld-able fix?

Subframe swap in Seattle (if I can find one in time and if this one makes it to Seattle)?

No other problems on the subframe, so I don't see how this could fail catastrophically, but it could be a pain in the ass down the road. Thoughts from the Elders and others appreciated...

PS: One more contributing factor to choices of repair method: I leave next Tues/Wed for the Alcan :deal :eek1

    Route looks like this...

Thats easily weldable, any halfway competant welder can fix ya right up & even add a little reinforcement plate to make it stronger than new

Did the upgrade :deal I think the lack of the "Kawasaki Shear Bolts" contributed to the crack :lol3

I say "weld-it". I could get it done here for you quick and most likely free, but it looks like you're taking the Southern route.
