1. Hey everyone, We’re going to start a weekly email to surface interesting threads in the forums. No worries, you can easily unsubscribe if you don’t find it interesting. If you’re like me, it’s nice to have someone willing to poke around a big community like ours and find the most interesting stuff. Saves time and I hate missing something great. It worked really well when we had someone discovering the best photos for the home page rotation back in the day. And if you have something fascinating to post, maybe this email does everyone some good by getting it noticed. Let us know what you think when you get it. Your feedback will make it better as we go (thread). Thanks! Baldy & rudy1220

You're about 20 years too late Deano.
Honda made the XL250 Degree with a revvy water cooled motor, and short little legs.
It felt like a little flat tracker, 80000 kms in 10 yrs before I sold it.
Trail road, commuted, camped at rallies with it. Awesome.

Wouldn't it be easier to buy a WR250X?
Or is their suspension the same as the R model?

Grease nipples. Why did they stop putting them on suspension?

I'll check it out, though general preference still towards bigger front wheel. As in everything here, still keen for different arguments.

in my initial research I checked out the KLX250 and others...the WR250R stood out on HP & torque figures (on paper, but you have to start somewhere) with an eye on that little extra oomph on the road. I wasn't really previously aware of the KLX300 before, but on it now. Thanks

and I'd have enough cash left over for a few cans of de-greener!

The problem when you do too much research is that you always want what appears to be best on paper and not what actually suits you. From the WR250 you start looking at the 300's and then hey what about a DRZ400....mmmm the DR650's look ok and you end up on a GS1200 Adventure wondering where it all went wrong:(:rofl:rofl

Dave, I lowered the seat height to about 880 on the CRF300L for the new owner a few weeks ago & that was without lowering link. If you are happy to spend $$$ on suspension, perhaps a CRF250L would be ideal for you. Very comfy bike.

I have a spare engine I'd be happy to put the 300 crank in for you wink wink

    KLX/WRR.....had both.

The KLX is agricultural compared to the WRR. Power is similar(250cc) but the chassis and suspension on the WRR is 2 generations ahead…..and still 2 old :hmmmmm The KLX geared for the dirt really, and I mean really sux on transport sections @100…..the 300 kit makes sense.

Me - 175cm 90kg with gear and yes the WRR is tall, even with the SC low seat. The SC low seat also kicks your hips forward due to the slope. If your tyre of choice is the D606 this will raise the bike about 20mm and change your gearing. If you lower the WRR you may have chain-slider/swingarm clearance issues. The cockpit on the WRR is cramped, so you’ll need to move the bars forward and up. Best bang for buck mod is a quick twist throttle tube…..the rotation on the OEM is cruel joke.

Heaps of info on both bikes, and the KLX isn’t a bad option at the right price. Hope this helps to muddy the waters somewhat :-)

Dave there is a Sherpa down the coast on Gumtree. $2200, if you're going down to visit Joe, drop in and have a look. If you don't buy it, I may get it for the missus...

Why did you sell your 250? I'm currently a man of leisure and was looking forward to doing some mid week cruisy rides with you again (on my 2007 KLX250)...

Mate of mine recently bought a 300 KLX. Really happy with it. Very low kms. Too bad he broke 3 of his metatarsal bones in his foot right after he got it. Not on the KLX btw. He may be talked into selling it. He's at Nambour and not working since he's still wearing a moon boot if you want to check it out.
