After enquiring about Hepco & Becker's Journey luggage on Micapeak, the few responses I got suggest the stuff isn't well-made.

Anyone have any observations before this thread sinks like a stone and disappears from sight?

    Thanks.

ha, I have a HB Journey three bag set and I think it is great. The mounting frame is very sturdy, and the bags are well designed, look great, and are water and dust proof. I have the top box mounted all of the time, it has been down many a highway and dirt road, has been grossly overloaded, and keeps on ticking. An excellent alternative to factory bags. I bought mine from Eurotech Motorsports in California.

Highly recommended, though not PC in this forum (real men have metal luggage). :arg

    Thanks Mark.

The criticism I heard was that the mounts were not very strong, and that the overall build quality was cheap. Sounds like your experience was different? Or just in line with the price, which of course is much less than Jesse or BMW?

I bought ther HB's because I wanted non-metal bags and I had read lots of criticism of the factory bags (expensive, leaks, locks). The HB bags are much larger than the factory bags, and they do not leak water or dust. I would say that I have abused them and they have not failed me. I would buy the HB bags over the factory bags in a heartbeat, even if the HB's were more expensive. Defintiely not cheaply made.

About the mounts, Touatech uses them for their metal luggage (as does HB), the mounts are very sturdy. I haven't bounced the pavement off of the mounts yet.

Cool, but it's only two days by ground and a lot cheaper than air.
