Hooked up with some of my favorite ADVRiders today hit the Hermy's BMW/Triumph open house event in Port Clinton, PA.

The plan, meet in Jim Thorpe for breakfast and then ride the infamous Nightstalker loop leg 1, from the Jim Thorpe Smokin Hole Rally, Jim Thorpe to Hermy's.

Executing the plan. Makman met me at my garage, since I was running behind schedule and failed to make the designated meeting place at the designated meeting time. After completing my pre-ride checks, we high tailed it to Jim Thorpe.

It was early, and cold, and heading North it just got colder in a hurry.

A quick stop along the way to put on the warm gloves.

Arriving at Jim Thorpe, it was time for food and fun!

Regrouping at DGRS' place, we picked up MS Metz and Willf650. We waited for CAT0020 to show, but destiny was calling and we had to be on our way!

All lined up and ready to go.

    This was the "Option".

I had ridden a few parts of this power line, near the top, but never the whole thing. Today was the day, it must be done!! The trail ended up being wetter than I had expected!

I don't know how this truck got there, or how long it's been there, but it wasn't going to be leaving any time soon!

Not bad for holding the camera over your shoulder and snapping a few off while you're heading down the road.

Great pics Nightstalker! Looks like it was a fun ride. Does Jim still work breakfasts at the Sunrise? Haven't been up there in a while. Can you post a map of your ride ? Is it sidecar doable? :evil Maybe I'll run the Ural up there some morning for breakfast.

    Stay safe out there, Pauly.

I can't answer your question about Jim, but I'm sure that JT Dave will chime in.

Oh yes, the route is sidecar doable. Just stay off the "Option".

Very nice ride! I think I recognized many of the roads (but not the Option).

I was going to come over/up but decided to finish (finally!) the b-t route for my club ride in May. You're route was much dirtier :lol3

How's Hermy doing anyway? I haven't seen him in 18 months or so.... I still have my 500 Morini, too.

I didn't take nearly as many pictures as Nightstalker but I did get a few that are worth posting.

    Nightstalker caught in the act!

We got over the mountain just north of Hamburg on PA-61 and it got cold very quickly. Warmer gloves were required to continue.

Ok, I bailed on a watercrossing. Nightstalker throwing around a BMW properly. One of these days...

After thinking about it and seeing Nightstalker go through, I really should've attempted it. With all the help if I got stuck what better time would there be to try my first crossing?

Nightstalker making it look way too easy.

Nightstalker looped around and came back the second line through the crossing. It was much deeper.

Willf650 off the OPTION. He rode up from Delaware to take part in the fun.

You couldn't run the option over the top. They cut the power line off a sheer rock face. You could go up to catch the view but you had to come back down the hill to one of the access spots.

After that I put the camera away. Nightstalker took some more pics at Hermy's and after we broke off our separate ways. DGRS2, Nightstalker and I rode back up north a ways and found some more decent roads.

It was a great day. I'm kicking myself for wussing out on the water crossing. I should've at least given it a try. I still had fun and it was great to get out and do some riding.

I know the option well. I've done it about 50 times. It's not to far from my house, but where is that tunnel. Near the option is a sand pit i can show you some cool trails threw there. Sorry i missed the ride but i threw out my back yesterday and could hardly walk.

    Guys

If the weather was last weekend what it was this weekend you would of had to beat people away from the Smokin Hole Rally with a stick. You guys are lucky to have nice riding and great bike shops near you. I can see a new ktm 4 stroke from Matto's in my future next year. Nightstalker did a great job laying out that route and I will sneak up there and ride it again now that I have a GPS track. Worst comes to worst I can see if I can dig up my roll chart holder.

    Great ride guys
    Will

P.S. After stopping at Hermey's and seeing all the other bikes and riding up the "option" I'm now guilted into washing my bike today.

Yep Jim still owns the place. Food is as great as ever. Nothing like a greasy spoon breakfast to get you started!! Nice pics everyone. Great riding. I'm going out today also. Can't beat the weather.
