That was the perfect tire for yesterday. He had way better hook up with that yesterday than I did with my knobby for sure. But then again my knobby was missing most of the rubber. :doh

Looks like great riding out there. I see you ended up in Pi Town. Which route did you take to get there?

    :rofl Permanently whistling:rofl

In case you haven't guessed by now, the JV stands for Johnson Valley. For most that name brings to mind endless miles of deep sand, sharp rocks and whoops. For others it means 188,000 acres of open riding. :D

That's what I love about the place. If you can see it, you can ride it..... or at least try to.

The 29 Palms Marine Base is in the process "acquiring" all or part of this OHV area so they can blow it up. :cry This dude explained it to me a few years ago.

He used to be the head BLM dude for the Barstow region, but now he works for the Navy heading up this land grab project. :huh Somehow that just rubs me the wrong way.
They are supposed to announce Johnson Valley's fate to the public, July of this year.more info HERE
So when Notmybikemodelname asked if I wanted to join him and a few others for a JV loop, I didn't hesitate to join them. :clap

Being the local, I got to to lead the loop (:clap I like leading.) and there's a little hill, just a couple miles from the lake, I like to run up just to make sure everybody is awake. :evil

These guys were. In fact Dunerat passed me on the way up. Said I was too slow. :deal Thumbs and MXBundy were dualie impressed.

Back down the hill things weren't going so well.

Bundy & I rolled back down to investigate and found that Wallywhirld's bike was spraying hot coolant all over the desert and Notmybikemodelname had stripped all the knobs off of his back tire!:eek1

    I think that's me doing some terraforming......:lol3

    Brent,

I'm glad you took me up on the invite. You showed me stuff out there I'd never ridden before and honestly didn't even know about.

What I love about JV is that you can ride some sick rock sections and then punctuate them with a high speed open desert blast to cool down before the next rock section.

Thanks for trying to prop me up, but honestly I just flailed on that climb and at least two others. I'm sure the knobs had something to do with it, but it was mostly lack of riding time since my busted ankle and wrist.

Let me know when you want to go again. :clap

Bundy graciously lent Wally a hand getting his cooling system buttoned up.

While DR & I found some rocks to play on.

We were back on the trail for almost 100 yards before our next pit stop. This time it was Thumbs Husky 310. The bars didn't like the looks of things and tried to detach and head back to the truck. Once again MXBundy stepped in and torqued those puppies down reeeal goood.

    Meanwhile Dunerat justified his namesake.

Back on the trail, we got into a little S-track.

And made our way towards Emerson Dry Lake. This arroyo would be our last chance for shade for a while.

    So we took a break.

In spite of the handlebar incident, Thumbs really loves that lil' 310. He stares at it alot.:raabia

After the lakebed, we started getting into HD territory.

This section is popular with the D37 Checkers club when it's their turn to host a race.

From here we did about a ten mile blast over to the rock pile known as Capt. Toad's Wild Ride. It's loads of fun but as we discovered, it's a bit of a maze and easy to get lost/separated from the rest of the group. The guys found me before heading back to the truck. :shog

A 50 mile loop in 6 hours. That was 6 hours well spent.:D Thanks for coming out to JV or an HD fellas. See ya next time.

I remember when we were there and D37 was tying ribbons for an enduro the next day....they accused Riceless of prerunning on his 950....bwahahahaha...when we came back through (lost) they were altering the course....:lol3
