Does anyone kow about Hwy 9 which goes from the AZ / NM border to El Paso, TX? I'm curious about the general condition of the road and the dirt stretch between Hachita and Columbus. Generally I don't mind a little dirt, but I'm going cross country and I'm in a bit of a hurry. I don't really have time to backtrack or pick my way through difficult terrain. I'm trying to decide whether to take Hwy 9 or go up to I-10. Any thoughts?

    Thanks,

Hwy. 9 is paved all the way to El Paso. You can shift to I 10 at the Santa Terasa port of entry connection or follow it on to connect with the Border Hwy. thru El Paso (read city streets).
