They are open and waiting for us next weekend!
That’s my spot in the background!
I should be there on Tuesday. I'll post a pic then.
Picked up a WR250R for the GF over the weekend, so we'll be in for 2. Plan is to stay at Shady Oaks unless there is alot of rain. Who all is camping so far?
I will be camping There as well. I am going to bring my klx250s. I should arrive Wednesday afternoon .
I will be camping thurs-mon Shady Oaks
Looks wet thurs but dry after that
I should be there Thursday, probably camping at the Hub.
Should be there before noon Thursday, will take you up on the Thursday afternoon ride
Weather is looking GREAT!
So stoked....tick tock tick tock!
So, if it rains quite a bit Thursday how muddy/slick will it be Friday ?
In my opinion that is not an issue. The county dirt/ gravel roads dry up really quick. It is the water crossings that are a challenge, the Mulberry is usually a memorable part of the day. But come on , just bring your life jacket ! Naw I'm kidding !
Tired of driving, stopped at Norfolk lake. 1.5 hrs to hub
Thursday afternoon I'm going to lead a ride out of the motel parking lot at 1:30 pm - unless its pouring rain..
The forecast is sounding good though.
If you want to go, be there ready to ride.
Friday and Saturday mornings I will lead rides out of the motel.
Pace will be moderate but fun..
Friday we will go to Oark for lunch which is a fun and scenic route.
Haven't decided on Saturday route yet.
Be ready to ride at 8:30 each day.
I will be on a WR250R.

Gas and food - lots of options in Harrison 10 miles north of motel on hwy 7/65
Gas stations can be spread out so if you are low on fuel don't pass one up.
Most have real non-ethanol gas.
Safety talk now.
First and foremost - ride within your ability and try not to do anything stupid!
These county and forest service roads are not forgiving for a moment of inattention or too much speed and the rocks are hard and the dropoffs steep!_
Cell phone coverage, particularly ATT is spotty or non-existent south of Jasper in the national forests so don't count on it if you crash or have a problem.
Low water and stream crossings - if the low water crossing is green with algae you can bet its slicker than snot so be careful!
Ask me how I know!
Clear fast moving water is deceptively strong and may have debris hidden in it so if any doubt TURN AROUND.
Nothing screws up a good ride like trying to revive or pull out a drowned bike - like this guy two weeks ago on the first morning of the Arkansas 500 ride!
Their weekend ride was done!
That's a Ural with a sidecar about to turn into a stalled submarine!
I’m out. Pulled a muscle in my back and have been sidelined. Hoping to be better by next week for SLAP.
Be careful, flash flooding here now in DFW and heading your way.
At the hub. Strong Verizon signal. Raining now. No other riders here.
What a place! Girls are working in the kitchen.
I am here at the Shady Oaks Campground.
I am here at the Shady Oaks Campground. Was going to go for a ride but it is raining a little much
