From a recently completed 1000 mile loop around Grand Canyon, into Utah. Something about the second pic, bikes waiting roadside beyond the trees really does it for me.

That the Civil War had troops of both sides butted up against - or into - Indian territories, and the fights that may have come from the Indians toward them, is something I've never read or watched a video on.
Google General Stand Watie, a Cherokee who was the last Confederate general to surrender. I've posted about him in other threads. The story of his family is quite interesting - Elias Boudinot and Major Ridge. It would make a good movie.
