Got the bike test packed. Pretty much good to go except for some Via and oatmeal for breakfasts and a couple of dehydrated meals for those times I don't bother to get food at a gas stop. :clap

    Nice Tag!

the first time I could stop easily in traffic was the turn for lake sequoya.

you didnt respond in the 90 seconds I tried while dodging angry commuters.

so I motored on up to the old baldwin store, pulled in as some jackhole honked at me, apparently dirtbikes do not belong on the road.

I tried again there, but no dice.

you do know there are two push to talk buttons, the lower is low power, the upper his high power, I think?

we need a more controlled test.

I will wire it up and bring it if you are bringing yours?

Not sure on the range yet, basically untested in real life, but it has to be better range than the typical bluetooth headsets

Pretty much a couple hundred feet is all the damn BT communicators are good for. Hell, even if these things only get a 1/4 mile it would be a huge improvement. :lol3

i think the interphone's use a sort of 'repeater' type system, where they pass it along to each other, this is why they are set up to ride in a certain order right?

I mean they are limited by the FCC for Tx power output, and the antennas are obviously shit.

yeah , Ive used the old FRS radios quite a bit, 1/4 mile easy in most terrain, these should do better with twice the ERP.

Yup, the problem with the Interphones is it takes an act of God to get more then 2 paired up. :lol3

I think it's funny that on the front of the package in big bold letter it states these radios have a 35 mile range. Apparently, Motorola lies about their range the way Honda lies about the weight of their bikes. :rofl

    Fixt for accuracy.

OK, so I guess I should start "planning" for this ride. Where are we going again? Who's got the tracks?

    :robin

Serious question: Do Charlie's "updates" supplant Magoo's "final" map versions found on Page 1?

What was wrong with the new 20S out?
With somewhat of over a mile range (claimed).
    Up to 8 paired.
By now the fixes from the first version should be done.

I think the biggest problem was the thing wouldn't stay locked into the mount or it was breaking. Some firmware snafus as well. I'm so happy with my 10 I never considered moving to the 20S.

Magoo will be moving those to the front page on his return. I found errors in one map, then broke the rest into smaller chunks in case someone uses a 60csx (Jim).

For some reason your tracks won't load into Locus Pro. I either get an "incompatible file format" message or I get "contains no tracks or points." I just downloaded some other tracks from the Slap Tracks thread to test and they worked fine. Probably another fucking Garmin issue, something to do with CNNA.

Edit: never mind. Got it. I will just go ahead and blame it on Garmin, though, because they are always at fault ultimately.

Edit 2: Is the Mississippi vector map worth the 7 cents it costs in Locus? I'm torn.
