I go to Menard’s instead of Home Depot. I stick my card in the machine and I get a receipt. Boom!
I go to a local supply yard and put it on my account. BAM!
Nobody barters with chickens and goats anymore?
Used to do that until we lost our local lumber/building materials place a couple of years ago.
My local Co has bought the competition; prices are high and service sucks.
It ain't what it once was.
I use Samsung Pay, which works most places, even when they only have an old stripe reader. Samsung has some additional chip in there that emulates a magnetic swipe.
It's not just Home Depot. Last two times I went to Lowes, even though I could pay via the phone, they wouldn't accept the four-digit code that the app produces, and I had to dig my card out of my wallet anyway. Real half assed way to catch up with the rest of the world.
