Well, where is it? It's coming!

And I don't want that stupid Chinese copy "Colove 500F." (with a Loncin engine copied from the Honda 500)

There are rumors that Honda will use the styling of its new CBF190TR for the 2020 CB500R. Sign me up!

I absolutely love the CB300R but the CBF190TF does nothing for me.

However, if they concentrate on weight reduction like they did on the CB300R I might be interested. Aside from the styling, the biggest draw for me on the 300 is the 315lb curb weight. A 350lb(ready to ride) 500 with 55-60hp and CB300R styling would open my wallet in a heartbeat.

The current 471cc twin Honda is using doesnt have enough “spunk” “character” whatever you want to call soul for a 500cc Neo-classic styled bike.

Having owed a CB500X would definitely agree...however for some buyers the retro look is enough and it might sell OK.

(FWIW I passed on the last gen Triumph Thruxton for that reason, it was very bland on a test ride, bought a Ducati Monster the next day because it wasn't.)

^ That would be a shame since Honda updated the CB500X for 2019 with 19" front wheel and better front suspension. Just need to take the bodywork off and install the CB300R headlight/turn signals/tank covers/seat/tail.

Why? I think it's a good idea. There are custom made scramblers based on the Rebel 500 already. Honda would simply offer an OEM version. I know I'd be interested.

Why? Because the concept of a Scrambler is to do some not-real-difficult off road riding and the CB500X is already set up to do an excellent job of that. Just doesn't have the nostalgic look of a Scrambler. Cost for Honda to make a Scrambler (or a CB500R) from the X should be much easier/less expensive. FWIW there is an Italian firm that makes a kit for the Kawi 650 Vulcan that looks almost identical to your photo, but Big K still hasn't done anything for any market, let alone the USA market.

It's not copied tho. They bought the rights to this engine from Honda and they build them pretty well. Loncin also build BMW 650 engine and puts it in their new 650adv bike called VOGE 650DS

If Honda is going to keep making new bikes with their excellent 471cc P-Twin, they need to stop pussy footing around & build the CRF-500L.

If they made a sub 400 lbs wet with some suspension travel, focused more towards 50/50 usage, I'd be in for that.
