Zero issues. Sold it to a friend, he put 7k miles on it. He was selling it about a year ago and I considered buying it, rode it again. It had more low end snap than my KTM 450 and ran great.

The rev limiter only lets them spin to about 6500 - 7000 RPM IIRC and they carry a lot of oil. That is a formula for longevity. In my experience there are only two things that factor in to durability: running them too hot, which is easy to do, and not seating the air filter correctly, also easy to do.

Going to be restoring it to its former glory it will be receiving all new plastics and probably an XRs only exhaust. Wish I knew what happened to the oil cooler that was all removed when I acquired it

I know m-tech did the suspension and the motor for you but I was curious what was done to the suspension was there any revolving or different springs or or was it just kind of stock rebuild. Also was curious on what front hub you used I'm getting a new tire put on it and I noticed it had a 36 holes but it had a mechanical Speedo I know the XR stock or 32

Hard to recall all the details but IIRC forks were revalved by Factory Connection, then LT Racing 2x. M-Tech serviced them a few times replacing the Showa cartridge seals.

    Big boy springs.

    CRF-X hub.

Again, I don't remember all the details, sorry!! Anything that lowers oil temps on XRLs is beneficial IMO. I think at the time I felt the smaller XR250 oil cooler was lighter and probably sufficient. That said, they are super hard to find, and if you're going to go through the trouble an XR400 cooler is probably better. Not sure of the mounting lines up though.

Sorry to keep asking so many questions about it I was just super into this build when it was going on and I'm ecstatic that I own the bike now and was hoping possibly the oil cooler was laying around somewhere and I could put it back on. But yes I will probably look into the xr400 cooler instead thank you for your time

    Oh hell yeah.

Love to see how it looks with a 4.0 gallon tank and a Baja Designs Squadron headlight with those same decals.

Where did you get your decals from. I think the yellow might go with my red and black scheme 07CA9131-F26C-42C6-99A0-20635D58B638.jpeg
