And cooler kit arrived - thanks! That was awesome service!
Thank you spezjag. I appreciate your business.
Ride safe out there.
Just read through this entire thread.
Still have question(s) on oil changes.
Saw one response that said the cooler added 170 cc of additional oil capacity and yet another response said no change in capacity.
At least that's the way I read it.
I need to change oil (and filter) on my '13 650L.
How much oil should I be pouring into the old girl?
When you fill the bike with oil right after the cooler is installed, it will take a little more oil.
Oil changes after that will be like normal and not require additional oil.
Make sure the bike is vertical when checking oil.
1. Fill the oil to the upper level.
2. Start the bike and let it idle for 5 minutes.
3 Level bike and wait 3 to 5 minutes.
4. Recheck the oil level and add oil until it reaches the upper level.
Thank you sir. Much obliged.
Note: Do not screw in the dipstick when checking the oil level.
Make sure the bike is vertical when checking oil. A 2x4 placed under the side stand brings the bike close to vertical.
Installed your cooler several years ago. Lack of riding time has left it unused for too long.
Time to change that thinking.
More oil cooler cores have arrived.
Thanks for your patience.
Rumors abound about me being out of business. Not true. I'm still selling the oil cooler kits.
Some hackers got into the web hosting server at Godaddy and installed malware on the backend my website. Some security they have.
A Google search for Sutton Cycle Works or my oil coolers had all the right info until it was clicked on.
The links went to some pill company. Anybody need any Viagra? I seem that I'm selling it right now.
I got rid of the malware. Now every link on the Google search results goes to a 404 error.
My website does not meet Google standards. So they won't let the links work.
So sales are pretty messed up now until a get a new website.
I have plenty of stock.
I really appreciate you ADV guys.
Ride safe out there,
I just ordered an oil cooler from Mark at Sutton Cycle Works for my XRL. You couldn’t ask for better customer service. I was having difficulty placing my order through his website (hackers put the screws to him), so I emailed him for help on Monday evening. Within minutes, he responded and my order was in. About 20 minutes later, I had confirmation of shipping and by Thursday at 10AM, I had the oil cooler in my hands (it shipped from AZ to OH).
Inside the box, everything was well packaged to prevent damage during shipping. The craftsmanship of the parts was top notch. He provides you with a bound, easy-to-read, color instruction manual. This was no impossible to read cheap photo copy like a lot companies provide. He even had a nice touch of dropping a vintage magazine in the box.
While I haven’t installed the oil cooler yet, I want to let you all know how much of a positive experience I’ve had dealing with Mark. He is definitely a cut above.
Next item on my purchase list for sure now that i have a XR600. What a great looking and functioning product.
