Was in NL for 2 weeks last August (not on the bike) and absolutely loved every minute of it! Looking to get back there on the bike. This is extremely tempting! Gonna try to figure this one out for sure.

This is a really nice area of NFLD. Worth a visit. I will say this is my wife's home turf. And I will say NFLD is not cheap to visit. I would say two travelling sharing rooms etc. could easily spend $100/day on the road, gas etc.

Not cheap? Compared to where? I camped for 2 weeks, often for free. Groceries were more $ than in the USA but the exchange rate evened that out. Restaurants and pubs seemed comparable. Gas is definitely more in Canada than in the USA but gas is less here than most countries. The ferry was the biggest expense but I’ve seen worse deals (like the NS ferry when it was running). Maybe NL is more $ than other parts of Canada?

Signed up and staying in the dorm.
Cant decided whether to come early and spend time explorinig or stay late and explore.

Blew through this area in 2018 as we were on a time limit, I vowed then to return.......Did I mention I'm an official Newfie as I've been "Screeched In" at Christians, (St. Johns)

Almost everything will be more expensive, gas, incidentals, whatever. Restaurant but especially Pub food will likely be cheaper. Beer in a pub will likely be cheaper but a little more expensive at the store. Hotel/motels are a wash. Camp anywhere which helps, if one is into that. This comparing to what I've seen across Canada (mostly Atlantic provinces/Eastern US)
Gas in Corner Brook today is 1.19. In Halifax it's 1.05.
The biggest expense is the ferry itself, and getting there. For the cost of the ferry alone, one could travel a fair distance in a different direction. But then again, you wouldn't be in Newfoundland.

That said, for a single passenger it'll be 45.57
    Motorcycle 60.36

So basically, 200 bucks round trip for rider/bike.

You'll forget about the 200 bucks a few kms after disembarking the ferry.

Any updates on if this is still going on? I see the HU website hasn't changed the dates...yet?

Newfoundland has closed its borders for the summer. Rest assured, this will be cancelled.

I keep checking the HU website. I'll be riding from the southwest US at that time so hopefully something will come out soon about being cancelled/rescheduled. Most of the US travel is fine, but already getting cancelled reservations from places in Canada/PEI, etc...

    Thanks -

I live in Nova Scotia, Newfoundland is not allowing anyone in, unless for work, or if they live there. They will not lift this til fall according to all that I see and hear.

Border is closed right now. 2 week quarantine going from province to province if you have an exemption that allows you to enter the province.

We're obviously not going to the rock this summer. Parents thought about coming to NS for a visit. But both provinces have a 2 week quarantine.

So parents would have to lock down here for 2 weeks, then again when they went home. I said lets write this summer off for all of us...

Thanks everyone for your inputs...I ended up writing Grant at Horizons Unlimited last week asking if they had any guidance and glad to see a decision was made. I am just extending my 2020 registration to 2021 so I hope to see you guys there next year.

    Take Care!
