Yeah I know , another freaking TAT Report!
    This ones different, it's mine.
olebuudy and I left Saturday morning from North Eastern Texas to ride the Mississippi, Arkansas, and Oklahoma section s of the TAT. We skipped the Tennessee part because it is mostly paved and we had to be back the next Sunday.

We had to make a decision for lunch!
    Mamma's

    Or Taco Bell

As any savvy Advrider would we picked Mama's, for the good food, and the Hot Chicks

Refreshed ,olebuddy and I slabbed it to Holly Springs,Mississippi to the State park and set up camp.[IMG]

We then headed to JB's on the Square for more food

We got up and lazed around camp Sunday morning, drank three Jetboil of Coffee, then headed off to JB's for breakfast.

Then we headed for Tennessee to pick up the trail at the Old Mill Pond State Park. First thing out of the box , we run into a closed road. Being from Texas, if something is closed in a State Park, they are serious. We rerouted and found the trail . Woo Hoo! I had been dreaming about this for a while.

We head on down the trail ad find this

No way across. The water looked deep and we had nothing to build a bridge with. Reroute again! No big deal!
Head on out and run across this pretty little spot
    [IMG]

    Found a few flooded roads

The trail goes right back by Holly Springs State Park. Might as well camp there tonight. We had a gourmet meal at camp[IMG]

Curtis had a big day Sunday, rode about 700 miles and stopped in Helena , Ar. for the night. We were going to wait on him in Holly Springs. Got another late start , finally hooked up with Curtis about 11am.
    Let's hit the trail!

Nice Little Mom and Pop Motel. The owners speak good English with a Mississippi accent. Highly recommended by Bigdon.[IMG]

Olebuddy found the only concrete nail in Mississippi

These guys stopped to see if we needed anything, but we had it under control. Thanks Guys!

olebuddy used to laugh at me for carrying locktight. Not laughing anymore are you Bud.:D
    [IMG]

Look , those are almost mountains. Must be Arkansas!

    I like Arkansas

These guys thought we were lost! Nah!

    We saw some nice views!

After nearly starving my companions we made the Mecca of Arkansas

Curtis took a different route. Said he wanted a brake from the dust. I think after his encounter with a few mudholes he decided the dust was not so bad. He was going to meet us here but did not make it. Anyway how bout a food shot?

The owner of the Oark Store is putting in a few cabins where the TAT riders will not have to ride the 20 something miles to Clarksville to sped the night. I would have gladly rented his cabin.
These are great folks and take good care of you! We had to come back for breakfast.

TAT reports are one of my favorite mainly because It's kick ass country, good riding, nice folks and someday I'll be doing it. Report on the TAT all you want, the rest of us can only dream of doing it while siting in our cubical.

We were able to get Curtis strapped back together, turned around and out to the start of Warloop. His bike was way overloaded and running on worn out Gripsters. He had done good but had had enough. He took the bypass and met us on the other side.
Olebuddy and I continued on down Warloop thinking that when we start back up the other side it was going to be a bitch. Thank goodness Warloop does not go back up. When you reach the bottom it turns into an ever increasing better road. We could have gone back up , no problem:evil but we chose not to.:D

    Oklahoma here we come!
The trail in OK. is really a nice ride. It follows a river and has some big rocks.

There is one water crossing that could be interesting.

I remember that "interesting" water crossing, and thinking to myself "keep to the left, so if you fall you don't send the bike down that waterfall on the right!":eek1

Thankfully that crossing is not as slick as the ones in TN.

We were encountering the start of a Norther blowing in. It was very windy and was making the gravel roads more like work than fun to ride.
    We took a break here.

We learned that torrential rains were headed our way so we cut out towards home. We had been planning to ride another half day but we cut it short.
This is where the trail crosses US 75

It should be easy to find next summer!

It was only 283 miles home so we took the long way! Had a great ride and beat the weather home by a half day. I just Love it when a plan comes together!

The trip meter is set for TAT miles!
    The odometer is total miles!
The max speed, well I was on a DR 650 and it was windy!

We hope to do another section next summer.
