Is that a generator on the engine?
What would be really cool is if that is one of the Valiants with the aluminum block slant six motor - a very limited production run made to challenge the Volvo 544 in SCCA sedan racing in the early 1960's.
A friend of mine had one of those motors and was planning to swap it into an English sports car of some sort but the engine was a lot lighter than the cast iron one.
Cool information! I wonder how they did racing?
Love Cacklefest at Famosa...
Maybe not at all except for the one currently being dragged on the coast.
"Best of all, the engine runs and lives today in a 1962 Plymouth Valiant that gets driven, and drag raced, regularly in Los Angeles."
Cacklefest this weekend
Yep, its the California Hot Rod Reunion this weekend at Famoso. This will be the first year in awhile that we (work) has not headed down. Until a few years ago the Double Tree had a pretty good parking lot party and lots fuel cars firing up.
Now it's just a couple of cars, NHRA and insurance put the kabosh on that.
Yep, its killing me I have to miss it, life friggin happens.
Me too. It's been 4 years for me, and I can't go this weekend.
'29 Hudson sedan getting cut up.
And welded up.
Ultimately painted, even the blower belt.
Underdriven 331ci SBC, Muncie m21, Radirs, panel paint, done.
Hey, at least it isn't just another rat rod.
In the days before matching wheels on a rig...
Probably built for the show circuit.
It had its time and got driven everywhere.
It was built to be driven, somehow the builder got carried away with pinstripes when I sent it back last. It's been to only one show in the past six years it's been rolling.
