If you are planning on traveling through Fairbanks, Alaska during the summer of 2010, then you can get inexpensive housing on the campus of the University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF). During the summer you can stay in a dorm room for $43/night for a double room ($22.50 per person) or $36/night for a single. The rooms are austere with the bathroom down the hall, but they are safe, clean, dry and warm. Just the place to stage for a trip to Deadhorse or to recover from the Dalton ride. A room in a flea bag motel can cost $120 during the summer in Fairbanks.

We normally have space all summer, but on occasion we do get full so it is best to make a reservation at least a month out; sooner is better. Reservations can be made online at: http://www.uaf.edu/reslife/guest/reservationform.html or by calling (907) 474-5846/6769. Questions? Email me at klhuddy@alaska.edu. For general information about guest housing at UAF go to: http://www.uaf.edu/reslife/guest/index.htm.

That's the problem with moderating. Sometimes you make decisions based on just a small of data.

I ASSUMED it was a money making venture. And when you said WE in your O.P., I ASSUMED you were making $.

If there's no profit in the deal, I can move it back. Please let me know.

Can it be in more than one place? I wish I had known about this two summers ago when I was up there. $120 for a flea bag is right. It gets real steep if your SO needs better than flea bag. Dorm room would have been perfect.

Got it. If plans hold up I'm aiming at the last week of August. Still need to get the time off... you know, just a minor obstacle. :D

    What a killer deal!

Maybe I'll make it to FBKS this summer.

Think I can get my ol room in Nerland Hall facing the Commons?

I helped the Nerland Nads win the Intramural Hockey Championship back in the early '80's. :brow How do you like THAT cheer?!?! Go Nads, Go Nads! :lol3 Good times.

Thanks for extending this offer to all of us here on adv. Mark H.

The Harley dealer in Fairbanks (Northern Most Outpost) is also the Buell, Honda, Victory, Polaris and BMW dealer. I've never noticed any indication they allow camping on their lot or provide showers; could be true, but not that I noticed and I get down there a bunch.

The dealership is in an okay area. It is next to a low budget hotel, but I've never had any need to feel concerned while in the area.
Now that I think about it, they have a fence with a gate that is locked every night so there is no way a camper could get in or out. Are you thinking of the Harley dealership in Anchorage???
