Do they just pick the biggest douche with the loudest bikes and put them in the front and the back?

Riding today there is a string of about 30 HDs all with loud pipes rumbling along a four lane highway with center turn lane. There are three guys with bright suits on that say "road captain" on the bike -- one at front, one in the middle and one in the back. THis whole string is in the left (passing) lane and doing 5 MPH under the speed limit then randomly speeding up to 5-10 over then slowing down again.

These fucking IDIOT "road captains" keep cutting people off and speeding up and slowing down just to prevent any other bike or cage from interrupting their stupid formation. Meanwhile there is a string of cars building up to the right and behind of this ridiculous HarleyTard Parade with me at the back so I get to watch the idiocy unfold.

Douche captain in the middle pulls into the center turn lane as does douche captain in the back. Guy in the middle slows down while guy in the back speeds up so they can swap places (all in the middle turn lane at 50 MPH mind you)

I'm right at the back in the right lane behind a confused guy in a Corolla who wants to pass but doesn't want to do it on the right even though it's only god damn place to do it.

Eventually I worked my way past all these morons because the Corolla in front of me decided to gun it past all the idiots in the right lane and I followed suit. It still took us three miles or so to pass all of them. (corollas apparently don't "gun" very well.)

HD riders want to stop being ridiculed and made fun and bashed, etc..well stop participating in BULLSHIT rides that only serve to piss off EVERYONE around you. :becca

"Road Captain" my ass. More like self infatuated, pompous pirate wannabe douchecaptain.

Why is it so hard for these guys to just move into the right lane and people by so there is no problem?!

They supposedly choose the one with the smallest wienie. Road Hazard should be the name of one of their bikes. Not Road King.

I'm with ya. I really don't care what folks ride but for gods sake don't ride like you're the only person on the road!

It probably wasn't a MC if they were going that slow.

BS. We have to put up with that crap for two weeks around the Loudon races in New England. Every decent road within 150 miles of Laconia is clogged with a string of douchebags forming a rolling roadblock. They stink from all the raw gas pouring from their open pipes and they ride 5mph under the limit.

They are far, far worse than the over medicated, 80 year old leaf peepers who inundate New England every Fall and who literally stop in the middle of the road near a covered bridge. At least the blue haired leaf peepers don't run in a goddamned convoy and refuse to let people pass.

When I was in North Carolina I was stuck behind a rolling roadblock of Milwaukee Metal, with a police car at the front and back of their procession. They didn't look like genuine 1%ers being escorted somewhere by the police so I asked my mate (a local) what the story was. He said it was reasonably ordinary round there (Chapel Hill) to get clubs asking for a police escort "for safety reasons" and that they paid the police for it. He's not a biker, so he might have his wires crossed and it sounds awfully far-fetched to me. Only reason I can think of is either to stop the pretenders from getting shoeing from the real deal for wearing a patch in someone else's territory or because they're terrified of cagers. Can anyone confirm/deny?

See, if you can't ride, alone, or in a group, you need ROAD CAPTAINs to assist you in wobbling, blocking traffic, never exceeding the speed limit, etc.

And if you are pompous self-absorbed idiot that needs a title and validation, you get the ROAD CAPTAIN gear.

I always thought they tried to stay away from merging traffic by staying out of the right lane.

Then again, it is more fun calling them cockslapping, fuckstick, douchepirate wannabees.

It's OK I won't make fun of your road captain jacket. I'm sure you keep it cleaned and pressed right next to your Members Only jacket.

...and then you have to wonder why people hate bikers and want to run them over with their big ass trucks.

I just wonder why people get so bent out of shape when temporarily inconvienced.

I see a group of 30 riders and I have to consider that not everyone in that group has the same riding abilities. The road captain has to ride to the lowest common denominator. Also it is hard (if not impossible) to keep a group together at the same speed if there is any kind of traffic around. Especially when impatient drivers are trying to get past, in the middle, or tailgating the group.

And I'm sure the fact that it was a group riding Harleys is a thorn in many folks sides. Many people see HDs in formation and immedietley think "drunken wannabe ass-pirates" instead of regular people just out for a group ride. The HD crowd is wrong by default. A Harley group is a "rolling roadblock" while a BMW group is being safe riding to everyones abilities.

At least thats my take on things.

I've never seen a rolling roadblock of Beemer, Wings, Dual Sports, etc. Nope, it's always cruisers. Temporarily inconvenienced, huh? One roadblock after another enraging the voting public. And the cruisers who bring restrictive legislation down on all of us will cry victim as our rights are taken away.

    Friggin sloth riders!

Here is what I have seen. Single lane each way, opening up to 2 lanes each way, right as the road gets twisty. Some asshat who sees riders wanting to pass as the lane opens up on a HD pulls out from his group to ride (read: block) the adjacent lane, and ride slowly, poorly, next to his asshat friends.

I have seen this idiotic, rude behavior ONLY from HD riding clowns. No person riding another brand, just HD riders. SO, unless you PROVE to me you shouldn't be painted with such a broad brush if you ride an HD, I assume you should be lumped right in.

Sorry, that's my perspective based on my experience and countless similar tales.

Now, that said, I rode today with a guy who asked if his buddy on a Road King could come along. I said sure, why not? Long as he can ride safely.

I just wonder why people think that they have a right to temporarily inconvenience other users of public roads - like what they are doing is somehow "important" enough to justify their actions.

Unless you are in a properly designated funeral procession, or an organized and permitted function such as "Rolling Thunder" with law enforcement over-sight and direction, impeding the normal flow of traffic is, and should be, a citable offense.

I wasn't trying to turn this into a "why Harley riders (or those that look like them) suck" debate, I was only trying to point out the fact that there is a bias on this board against HD riders. Maybe bringing out the point that if a BMW rider sees a group of cruisers, he sees a bunch of lackwits whereas if he sees a group of BMW's he sees a safe bunch of riders. The original poster seemed upset at a HD group being in his way riding under the speed limit and "slinky-ing". I was merely trying to see if he was upset at the fact it was a group, or a group of Harleys.

Maybe I'm not explaining myself properly. Communication never was one of my strong suits.

    Ok.

Forget my above post. I am fighting a losing battle here and I know when I am beaten. You guys win.

Please paint me with your broad brush and hate me if that makes you happy.

Just know that I will still have a pepsi with any one of you and judge you by your character, not your motorcycle.
