Hey Erling, For us mere mortals, what do you think of these parts? http://www.nicecycle.com/BMW-F800GS-Carbon-Fiber-Parts-s/3372.htm I am specifically interested in the case saver, but several other pieces look awfully nice, too.
It is impossible to comment without having them in hand. They could be good..... Or bad. I have no idea. One thing that does strike me as odd, is that they appear to be knockoff prints of BMW OEM. That usually spells trouble, as BMW own the rights to sell those as profitable. Maybe they have gotten permission....dunno. I don't know the company, but usually only way you can make them this inexpensive, is either Chinese copies, or quick cheap copies made stateside. Those are complex shapes, and do require an elaborate setup. I simply have no idea.
It worked fine but I had to give it a try to hide these rails and give it more of air passage. It is still a Greek only blog, but you can get an idea from the photos: http://ikarusf800gs.blogspot.gr/2015/06/learning-to-fly.html
And at last I just got my blog translated and rebooted so here it is: http://ikarusf800gsenglish.blogspot.gr/2016/03/karus-fairing-for-bmw-f-650800-gs.html on the side there is my test ride info of other screens on the market http://ikarusf800gsenglish.blogspot.gr/2016/03/9-after-market-screens-comparison.html and it all started with a guy and a sandal wearing foot messing with epoxy on adv rider. Thanks again man.
Good to hear. I can't follow though as it appears you have to have a Google plus account to view. Or at least I could not see'em. I am glad you got what you wanted, and honored to be part of the start.
I have a 2013 F800gs and have purchased allot of the Besteem carbon fiber parts. They are well made and very solid. I did have to make some modifications to the CF key one they make as I have a steering stabilizer and needed a bit more clearance. Had to add a few rubber washers to other parts to fit exactly right. Nothing major.
That looks really good. I must say that you took on a great, and very large project, as a first time trial, but succeeded never the less. It looks awesome, and looks like it works great. Well done amigo.
Thank you my friend. At first I was skeptical as I do hack and bolt things around the bike and the house but I never messed with chemicals. Now I think that I dived in cause you made it look easy. I have another thing in the drawing table, also epoxy based. If it ever "fly" will post both here and in the blog.
I would love to, but as I traded the 8GS for her wider sister, I have a few threads going, but in the 12GS forum......
Wow just read this thread start to finish. I have a f800 triple black I now realize it needs carbon fiber. Thanks for putting me on to this.
