I've got new tires and encouragement from my lovely wife to get out of town next weekend. (09/09/21 - 09/12/21)

I live near San Francisco. I'd love to get 1,500 + miles in and sleep outside a couple of nights.

Plan A - Eastern Oregon (depending on smoke)
    • Leave Thursday evening and rally towards Reno
    • Head North on 395 on Friday
    • Explore Eastern/Central Oregon on Saturday
    • Never been here on my bike and keen to go
    • Head home on Sunday
Plan B - Northern Nevada (depending on smoke)
    • Leave Thursday evening and rally towards Reno
    • Weave my way between 80 and 50 and head towards Elko and Ely
    • Maybe explore North of 80
    • Most of this I haven't seen
Plan C - San Diego and Arizona (depending on heat)
    • Head down the coast on Thursday/Friday
    • Explore down South
    • Head home Sunday
    • Seems like lots of traffic...
    • All CA National Forests are closed - so all hotels...
    • I'm not super excited about this, mostly due to traffic
Plan D - Head up the CA and OR coast
    • Looks like smoke will be fine
    • CA National Forests closed, so sneaky camping or hotels
    • I've done this trip quite a bit over the years, hoping to find new ground
This is one of my only free long weekends for a while, and all of the fires and smoke are limiting my options. I'd be stoked to hear from anybody whose got some recent insight/ideas!

Thanks for sharing! I hadn't seen this map. It's better than the other one I was looking at... although it doesn't look like Eastern Oregon is the place to go this week.
