Does anyone know the latest on the HPN big tank for my friends HP2
Tomorrow, always tomorrow.
Seriously though, the tank has been announced at various times to be available in March, May and July. The last correspondance we received from HPN this month said production has been delayed a little longer. Based on our experience this could mean one month to never.

Yea the gas tank is great, but I really want to hear about the suspension, the exhaust system and those wheels/ hubs/ brakes.
It looks like maybe someone needs to start a "show us your HP2" thread.

I was sure that "the Bike" coudl capture your attention.
Actually the bike belongs to a friend that this days is leaving italy heading to china.
It is quite a prototype mofied as follow:
front Ohlins pressurized fork 48mm with hand made billlet clamp
rear a mono Sachs with 4.8 kg spring
exaust a full quatD prototype
Tank hand made but for sure when he'll be back to Italy He will study the possibility for a small series. It handle 30 litre.
Wheels excel carat.
Your "friend" is leaving for China? Is the bike still in Italy? Hmmmmm.... How well is the bike guarded?
I would probably buy one of those tanks in a second! Just shy of 8 gallons makes 300+ mile range-would be perfect and make my HP2 pretty much the perfect bike...please convince your friend to get more made. If this is going to happen, I will throw my underseat prototype into the recycling bin.
That tank is better than any sort of underseat tank could be, and looks like it drops right on without any mods to the bike. Looks like he solved the "fuel pump plate" problem with a bolt-on covering. I might add a switched oil cooler fan though...

Do you know if he changed the head angle with the custom triple clamps?
Do you have any information about the hubs? The rear looks especially interesting. Also what rear tire is on the bike?
Someone did a really nice job on the head pipes, though I notice he chose not to use a cross over.
What is the gas tank made out of?

Dang. $3800??? For a tank? I want it bad, but that is just brutal!
Of course in 1984, my R80G/S was only $3995 new...
Use the alu. tank as a plug for molding one out of plastic/nylon and sell them for 1000Euro. Rotational moulding isn't that expensive, and it'd be more durable anyway.
I still want one though.
$3800??? Kidding asaide.... the builder has put in a lot of effort into building one. Looks the part though. Dont you think Touratech or Wunderlich has gotten whif of this and are starting to design their own respective versions? Honestly, this tank designed by FOX is well thought out. WHY DIDNT BMW THINK OF THIS OPTION???? I just hope that whoever mass produces a big volume tank (mass production????.... considering the amount of HP2's built and sold) gives credit to FOX and the price should be within a comfortable range....unless you have deep pockets. I know i dont.
