I'd sure like to hear brother @YJake 's report.

I know what he's going to say, but i guess i want to hear a younger man's words. An observer/responder who doesn't have memories on every fkn street & block of downtown PC

    It’s all fucked, man.

I was in Panama City last week on business but I’ve never spent much time in the actual city. All that I can say about the Panama City area now is that this is going to take a very long time to “buff out”. Deaths as a result of this storm are being grossly underreported, most people are still “missing”.

I had the pleasure of cutting an entrapped coworker from his house using a chainsaw the day of the storm. After I verified he was okay, I made sure to remind him that he was a few hours late clocking in for his shift :D.

Actually sadly enough the media are starting to report about bodies being found by rescue crews... This is going to be a hard lesson for those who wanted to ride out a major storm in a low lying area with homes not built to more stringent codes. Codes that are actually the bare minimum in most cases...
The people in the Keys found out the same after Irma that staying to protect material things isn't worth a life lost.

According to a first responder in a post over @ AR15.com "An estimated 280+ people didn't evacuate a coastal area and are feared missing due to wind damage and storm surge."

Appreciate it Jake. PC and PCB are old DNA in my fam. PC is a miniature Pcola: think of our downtown, North Hill, East Hill, EPH and port in an area the size of Bayou Blvd to 9th Ave here

Just got back from blue roofing the grandfolks east of marianna- absolutely incredible damage that far from the coast.
About 7/10 of all longleaf snapped off 10' up. Plantations, wild, 100+ year old didn't matter.
Oh and Tyndall probably will no longer have an ecological restoration team - no trees left.

The damage done to trees as far north as the interstate is incredible. It’s as if some drunk gazoonie decided to snap every other tree in half 10’ off of the ground in some areas and simply push them all over in others. Never seen anything like that from a hurricane, it looks like widespread tornado damage. The interstate in Jackson county post storm was a mess of pine trees, power lines and cars tangled together.

Load up any firewood for the Trot, young Phaedrus? :evil

I’ve got a couple of long leaf pines at the house in town that self pruned the top 25’ or so. Luckily they landed right at the base. Unluckily the bases were right at my fence. Probably 30’ of fence or so on one section and 20’ in another will need to be replaced.

We lost about 10 trees in the back yard and who knows how many on the north 2 acres. Luckily only small stuff landed on the fence. The first tree down knocked open the chicken coop door. It was fun getting them corralled during the storm. We have 10lb Jersey Giants. They just hunkered down facing into the wind. Majestic looking, no. Silly looking, absolutely!!!
