Great thread, I'm thinking of getting a 390 in the future to replace my 2004 400EXC. How are the valves clearances adjusted on these bikes, I like to do all my own servicing and wouldn't mind knowing what's involved? How reliable are they, any horror stories out there, anyone racked up significant miles/hours on one yet?
Yup, I get all my tanks from there and the service has always been great. I'm watching this thread with great interest, as a new 2011 FE570 will be mine by Spring! ktm950se
Has anybody seen the Safari tanks in blue? Everwhere I search on the web only shows them in white. I sent a message to both Safari AU and USA asking for pics. I'll post something as soon as I hear.
Great thread guys. I am considering a 2011 fe 390 or the fe 450. For those with experience on these bikes, which would you consider if you weighed 154 lbs before gear for an all around woods/trail bike? My guess is that the factory suspension is sprung for a 170 lbs rider or less. Will the less grunt on the 390 make up the difference with a light weight rider?
Be prepared to change the rear sprocket, for some reason the '11 570 is coming with a 42 tooth sprocket instead of the 52 like last year.
I rode all 4 bikes before buying the FE450. I weigh 200 with gear and the 390 felt a little underpowered for me. Ride both and decide for yourself, you can always turn down the map switch on the 450 if you need to. I primarily use mine for a DS, I use the 250 for the tight woods stuff.
Thanks for the input. Although not as light, I have an F8GS for DS, and also have a plated CRF250R woods bike with a 270 kit for tight stuff. I want to add an E start FI dirtbike hense the fe390/450. The map switch can make the 450 behave like the 390? I beleive they both weigh the same.
Yes, but it can't make the 390 feel like the 450 when they are both on the high setting. The 390 on high feels like my 450 on med IMO. Some report that the 390 feels lighter in the tight stuff. The best thing to do is find a dealer or somebody that will let you test ride them, that way you can decide which is best for you.
what's supposed to come inside the Husaberg bag? i got an owners manual but it's not in English!!! there are copies of the body/engine parts manuals and they are in English. what gives? did the dealer take my manual out and forget to put it back inside the bag???
Good question, I haven't looked at mine since I brought the bike home last June. I went down to the garage and found it, here's what I got: A couple stickers with the VIN number A couple pieces of paper with the VIN number Owners manual (in English) Owners manual (in Spanish) Spare parts manual, engine Spare parts manual, chassis Toolkit (almost forgot that because it's on the bike) A copy of my Certificate of Origin A copy of the diagnostic printout showing the installed MAP A copy of the Bypack List (everything that was in the box with the bike) Husaberg pen That's it.
In 2010 the first batch of bikes did not have manuals, contact your dealer. There are many good things about the new Husabergs, my valves have not moved in 90 hours and that is usual for this engine.
I have had my 2010 FE450 for one year now and have clocked up 100 hours. The more I ride the bike, the more I like the bike. Had the shop fit frame guards, radiator guards, case saver, pipe guard, rear master cylinder guard and Barkbusters. I swapped my Pivot Pegz with my 640 Adventure. I am a riding gumby and this bike fills me full of confidence. I really like it's low speed balance and manoeuvrability. I am amazed at the way the thing climbs hills. I have never bogged the engine on a climb and I have never even used the clutch to prevent the engine stalling. The EFI is fantastic. I have purchased a Safari tank and that will be installed soon. I am in the process of cleaning up an smoothing the sharp edges of the brackets. I also purchased a Rekluse clutch earlier this year. Still in two minds weather to install or not. Love the way the bike cleans up after a ride and the ease of air filter maintenance is brilliant. I love this bike.
These guys supply quality gear. www.bboffroad.com.au The Husaberg stuff is here:- http://www.bboffroad.com.au/450_570_2009+.htm
I am considering one of the two, so by any chance, anyone here know what rider weight the 2011 FE390 or 450 are sprung for from the factory? I weigh 154 lbs without gear and am wondering if the stock F/R suspension would need to be redone. Thanks in advance
I also got: - a larger rear sprocket - longer chain - spare clutch perch bracket - steering lock keys (maybe masterkeyed for the PB mansion) - husaberg CD with sales video Fizz
Are any of the husa's dual sport ? (49 state legal for road use). Really want FI -no carb but may have to do a exc.
Only the 2011 570 is street legal from the factory in the US. But all the '09 and '10 models as well as the '11 390 and 450 can be made street legal very easily, mine is.
