I've got a choice between the 2011 and a left over 2010. The 2010 is a great deal but the thought of not having to dick around with getting it plated is a bonus almost worth paying for I think. The new forks are an added bonus also
I haven't actually seen the bikes, I've been talking with a trusted Berg dealer about them. What did the 2010's come with for controls? What extra's did you need for the wiring to make it street legal?
Start switch, head light/kill switch, thats it for stock controls on the 2010. Depending where you are, and your state requirements, you'll need a turn signal switch, which has high/low beam control, horn switch, and a horn, turn signals, and mirror, draw backs are new switch gear does not have a kill switch. What I have on mine is the high/low, horn, turn signal switch, which has the horn wired as the kill switch. What I've found was that just buying the turn signals and switch doesn't get you everything, you'll still need a wiring harness to connect the signals to the switch and power. You will not have a key, no big deal, but just thought you'd like to know. Here in Kentucky things are much easier, since you don't even need turn signals, I put them on because I wanted them, also, buying a KTM/Husaberg makes it even easier since the MSO looks like like what you'd see on any other street bike, mine did NOT say off road only. If you want to make things easy, buy the 2011. Good luck with whatever you decide.
Thanks Ink! According to the dealer, the 2010 title reads "off road" , which makes it a bit more of a pain. We don't need turn signals in VT but I'll need them for Rallymoto events. Do you have a picture of the 2010 controls? Is it the good old European CEV Switch?
If you want to run the factory wiring/parts I have a list. There is a turn signal switch that bolts on the bottom of the stock(2010) left side control. Mine came with hi/lo/off light, horn, kill, on the left side bar. It's all plug and play. The only thing I would do is go aftermarket on the flasher. I ordered the stock one before I new the price, it was something like $53:eek1. I run LED turn signals in the front and the stock flasher works.

Thanks Tahoe! So it is the CEV "berg" switch then. I've got the same set up on my Super Enduro, so I know what you mean about the turn signal rocker switch add on.
Have you done any tuning on the FI yet? Would be nice to tweak a little better mileage out of it I find I tend to get pretty good mileage because I'm steady on the throttle but it can always get better
Don't have a programmer yet. I am happy with whatever map is in my bike. I think it is the "Green" one as I bought the bike in the crate and have never changed it. I can get 93+ miles out of the stock tank doing singletrack, a few hillclimbs, sandwashes and basically not holding back. Never has flamed out and I have 2k+/90+hrs on her. I did play with her on the dyno and I will need to add fuel for the mods I want to do. I can see an easy 10 hp over stock. SM guys in Eu are getting 70-80hp with head,cam, piston and such. I'll try to get a bung welded on for my wideband and see what I got. On the dyno it was 13.0 A/F.
Wow, that seems pretty good. I read somewhere that they eliminated the 02 sensor in 2011? What did you get for HP on the dyno?
My 2010 didn't have the 02. Dynoed on a dynojet at 5k elevation. For an example(I always use the same dyno) my 990 stock with just FMF mufflers did 77hp. 49hp with stock muffler on the aggresive map. Took the seat off and it went up to 53 but 13.5 A/F ratio. I had heard they would get 2 hp by opening up the shrouds/seat junction, so I thought less just see what we get with no restriction to the filter. Got a DNA filter coming in the mail.
And will do this seat mod since I seldom have to worry about water. I get either snow or dust around here.
I put a Yoshimura muffler off of a 1000cc sport bike on it and it really woke it up.Going to test as many mufflers as I can get my hands on next dyno session.

stock is great. I have no complants. I just hope I don't screw up the nice throttle. I have a problem with always wanting more power on anything I own. My wife wasn't happy(until she drove it) when I put a supercharger on our 2 month old boat. Anyways, with my riding style I want a little more mid range and top end. I tend to short shift alot trail riding but want instant hit to pre-jump stuff when I see it.

I still haven't. There still bundled together in the garage. After I bought the Berg I don't ride the 990 in the dirt. The Berg is street legal. I have thought about trying them on the Berg. It seems to have a tire issue. But everytime I look at them I just think how big a roost that tire will throw on the 990.
I'm planning on pulling the trigger on a new bike before spring. Talk me out of a wr450 and into a Fe450.
I agree. What's the honest opinions or a reliability comparison between the two? I will be plating it but it will mostly be used for a woods bike.
I've heard great things about the WR and I've seen many with high hours and no problems. I've also been pleased to hear about how robust the new Bergs are and the fuel injection is pretty amazing out of the box. The throttle response seems to be the best part in my opinion. Obviously, I'm not helping you at all
In all honesty, if the WR450 was fuel injected I would be buying one.
This is me last year on a rally stage The tire shoots a pretty damn good roost as you can see.
