Actually, exactly same people working in KTM R&D for both brands. Parts might be different, but development process and working culture is the same. 901 design is different from 790, but I’m sure hou can put “=“ between both brands in reliability and technical solutions.

I hear you Jimbo, there is something to be said for simplicity. Well made simplicity at a more reasonable price tag too.

I was hot on the Norden but now I think it seems to be another big, fat, heavy, complicated and expensive bike.

I may be wrong but somehow I doubt it.

Well if you're right it's a win win either way. Too much gadgetry and I wait for the Yamaha. Or
Find a nice 04-05 carbureted 950. AT is out also do to tech. I kinda don't mind the weight, do to my long trips planned next year-ish. Don't need it to be a moto, but years of off road racing keeps me searching the long way. PLUS I think I can pull chicks with the Norden. :D

Should we all quit here and consolidate on the other longer "Husqvarna Norden 901" thread?
Do we really need or want two identically-named threads? [Moderator hello]

What I notice from this picture is that the space between the front fender and the fairing/skidplate is noticeably less than the pic of the bike at eicma. I would think that less suspension is in search of a lower seat height, with a bigger bike I am in favor of that.

I was excited too not for 890 which reportedly 7kg/15.5lbs heavier than 790 but for used 790 price drop.

Is the 1090 much heavier than the 890? Interesting to compare HP and weight with those two. Although, the lowslung fuel weight is an important part to consider.
