Let's blow the dust off this thing. Carol Ann and I got up at 0445 yesterday and were on the bike headed to the Blue Ridge by 0600.

Touched the BRP but mostly explored little roads to either side of it.

Got bug guts in the retractable camera lens/dust cover. @Blur I got things working again after soaking the whole camera in Goo Gone overnight but we may reevaluate the "shooting on the fly" technique. Pictures come out better standing still anyway.

Here's a nice overlook with bug guts shot, the rest weren't worth looking at.

175 miles and back home to beat the heat by lunchtime!

    Awesome pics, Rickster!

Maybe sometime you can give me tips on how to take pictures of pretty girls smiling.

Camera soaking in goo gone does not seem like a good idea to me... does the camera continue to function? Hope so.

It doesn't have to function, as long as its clean.
I'd of used Murphy's oil soap myself.

I was just stickin' it to Blur. I cleaned it with q-tips and rubbing alcohol.

Today was one of those one in a million middle of summer days. A cold front blew in from the north yesterday and by this morning it was 57° and the humidity level was much nicer. We hemmed and hawed for a while, ate a nice breakfast, and were on the bike by 0900.

Picked our way up to the Blue Ridge via familiar and some not so familiar roads.

Rode all the spurs up the hill; by the time we gained some elevation, 3000' or so, it was actually chilly with just the mesh jacket. Hopefully I was able to store up some of the cool weather to use later this summer.

I'm glad we went out today, I would have been angry with myself for weeks if I'd wasted it.

Another day when everything came together. 60° this morning and decent humidity levels. Carol Ann had a prior commitment so I was on my own and out the door by 0630.

I saw more deer today than I probably ever have on one ride; easily 30 or more. Also dozens of turkeys, ten or more rabbits, a Cooper's Hawk and a black bear. Crazy wildlife day, unfortunately they were all faster than the photographer.

That could probably run again. Missing the magneto for sure but they can be gotten or even done away with. Wish I was with you when you came across it, would have been worth a closer look. Here's one exactly like mine, except this one has new paint. Mine's also a little older by the mag arrangement:

I have some video and pictures, someplace on my PC, of a dozen or so different makes and sizes of them.
Set up at an old farm equipment show and in use, splitting wood, stripping and milling corn and i think sawing.
