I too enjoyed reading and riding vicariously along with you on this epic RR of Death Valley. I went thru there many yrs ago in a cage heading to Anaheim. I thought it was a godforsaken place that one should avoid at all costs. Your RR has changed that perspective immensly..OFC one should avoid it in the summertime:wink: Thanks for bringing us along:clap

Awww, Louie must have been soo happy to have you back! :raabia
(along with the rest of the family :D)
(hi mrs. larryboy! :wave)

You had to ride home on one of the rainiest days of the year... :vardy
Good thing you charmed that girl into giving you a poncho, heh heh. :D

Thanks for taking us along on the XRR.
Matt was so inspired, he went for a solo ride yesterday (reiff road/stonyford).
He spent the day blasting through mud, ice and snow on the 990.
There was no one else around and said he had some "larryboy moments,"
talking to himself outloud,
"Don't f**k up! don't f**k up!"
(at least I knew he had the SPOT. *cough*)

Maybe next year you two will finally go on that playdate...
:lol3

At any rate - another excellent Larryboy ride report!
Thanks for all your hard work! :thumb

You mean my Adventure Deficit Disorder.

That would be fine and would help with my treatment.

Great videos and pics. The new camera is working out well for you.

I have got to learn to use my gopro right. Nice action shots.

What a fablous ride report, I feel like such a wuss. DV is a favorite place for me but I haven't ventured very far off pavement. I will have to do better. I am impressed with the small ammount of gear used on your rides.

Thanks for taking the time to write and post.

I’m a n00b heading for DV next month and have been really anxious waiting for the trip. Now after watching your report, times gonna stand still till it’s time to go.

Hey Rob,

Thanks again for all your hard work in creating this ride report, which I've enjoyed so much ... you are an artist! :D

Here's a pic I took from the road on the way up to the leadmine ... you can see I didn't get as far up that road on my loaded KLR as you did ... I'll have to try to find the cool campsite next time I'm there ... I think I'd enjoy that more than the campground by the top of Lippencott (where I stayed after I took this pic and turned back down ...)

Anyway, love it when I find myself in a place that's turned up in a Larryboy ride report! Ha.

hope to see you around the campfire,

I know what you mean. Video is great but alot more time consuming to edit and upload than still pictures.

Ok, you asked for it. :deal The video is 8 minutes or so and will assault you with a new slide every 2.5 seconds while you're being assaulted by the most awesome mash up of songs ever heard. I said to the guitarist of this group, "The way you guys did the hidden track makes me want to smash stuff.", he said, " Ahhh, so it is working.".

A bunch of the pics in this video I left out of the report since nobody should have to look at some of it for more than a few seconds anyways.:lol3 Oh cool, I just learned how to swap the teaser thumbnail. The main underlying song that that means something to me is titled, 'I Won't Give Up", I probably should, but I won't.

Thank you and everybody else with the awesome comments!!!

Next time you're there, take right turns and you'll dead end at a good camping spot with a fire pit including a grill and it's nice and level. I wouldn't want to be there for one of those 120 mph wind events that moves the rocks, but a calm day would be nice.

Larryboy,

That report was great. I was thru DV last summer but just in a rental car from LV to Mount Whitney. Drove thru the north end on the way back-saw Eureka, Ubehebe, Rhyolite and then the Great Dune. I'd love to go back on a bike, but it was 121 at Badwater and windy! It's going down to -12 tonite in MN, so all we get to do is read about 2 wheels for a while. Thanks again!:clap

A good way to get your DV feet wet is the DVdaze event coming up at the end of the month if you're able to make it. I think there's a thread in 'west' about it.

Thanks to all for reading. :thumb
