Before and After. I posted a "before" pic of the bike under my personal account (Jkils), but since I am at work I figured I should use the account tied to my work, and get paid (barely) to post!!! First real ride out on the SE. Absolutely incredible, and scary! At first I didn't how to ride the damn thing and it wasn't pretty. But after deciding to ride it like a dirt bike I saw the light. Hit some light duty S/T, gravel and mud. This thing is going to be fun!

Those pics make me want to take the rear racks, tool box and safari off, and see what mine feels like lightened up a bit.....

Makes a big difference...I pulled the rear racks, rear tank, luggage plate, signals, passenger pegs etc. off mine and pulled something like 35# off of it. Super fun off road...then I discovered having the hand holds on for picking it up offroad was needed for shrimpy me...

Replace the grab handles with strong nylon straps that you can make. I’ve always done that on my bikes.

Or take it off your body. I'm down almost 30 lbs since Aug and WOW does the bike work so much better!

Used my super scientific bathroom scales, did a little aversging, and went from there.

Not the most accurate but close enough. Mine was 454 with a lot less than yours on a calibrated scale.

My tank was dang near empty, so I'm sure that helped. The splits were 210 up front, 241 out back. Yeah, not as accurate as a freight scale but good enough to eyeball it.

Mines a little lighter than that at the moment.

Getting a couple of mods and the motor is stripped at the moment.

New Erzberger headlight on the way as well.

You can get a pretty accurate weight with a bath scale if you do it right. Level surface and 2 blocks of wood the exact thickness as the scale. Get weights under each wheel and side stand and add them together. I found a few years ago when I had a 1000 pound hanging scale it was within 1 pound. (might have been accuracy of the bath scale. With out the spacer blocks, the weight was off ~12 pounds .

Somewhere back in this thread I give the weights of 4 SE's.

There is a lot of variability in that method though because bathroom scales aren't always the best quality and everyone does it slightly differently. It's good to know where an individual bike is at before and after mods but using it to compare two bikes in different places isn't the best method. Everyone usually thinks there bikes are lighter than they actually are until they get them on a legit scale.

When I weighed mine down in Utah I had to 2 to 3 gallons in it, my tank bag partially loaded up and some shit under the seat. I could drop more than a couple of pounds by stripping off the lights and putting the dirt bike plate on it and removing all the tools and spares.

Lets just say that it is not exactly plug and play.
It is a nice piece of gear but a bit of fiddling and a few bolts and things required.
