Alright, some of this will be vague, for obvious reasons...

We left Farmington, MO on July 22. A bunch of family was there to see us off. My soon-to-be ex and my son Zach came down. It was more than a little rough on me. We wandered around the motor pool (Zach likes to look at the Army trucks), but I had them leave before we actually loaded the busses, so I could be professional in front of my guys. We had an escort from some of the Freedom of the Road dudes up through St. Louis. After that, it was movie time on the bus (BTW, "derka" is a real word):deal
The first week was all "stand in line here, medical reviews, and paperwork, paperwork, paperwork. On our off times we started training for the tasks that we have to qualify on to be able to deploy: first aid, weapons qual, etc. Eventually (soon) we will be moving out to the "FOB" (forward operating base), a dummy base that we will do all of our tactical exercises from.
Internet acess is sketchy. There is none native to the barracks. There is an "internet cafe", but they have the security set so pretty much all you can do is check your military email account. They had a USO truck here for a couple of days with wireless, but they didn't have nearly the router capacity to handle all the people who want to get on.:puke1
I had a wireless card in my old laptop, but it doesn't fit in the new laptop. We finally managed to rig a system for our area with a wireless card/router setup. Not fast, but at least I can get out.
overall, we'll be here in WI for a couple more months, then back home for about 4 days, then back here to ship over.
Take care, and I'll update when I can. Miss you all.

I'll post an address when I hit the sand. the funny thing is, My internet acess will almost certainly be better there than it is here:huh
I do have one semi-immediate need: does anybody happen to have a decent picture of a gila monster to make a stencil out of? (To mark all of our platoon equipment)

Somebody still owes me a chainhead sticker....

I really want that on the bumper of my truck.:deal

Like the one in transformers, except for the robot part...

Be safe over here and there! Haven't seen you for over a year, but still remember smiling and watching you ride that R12GS like it was a much smaller/lighter bike. Except when you were picking it up of course.

Take care and THANKS for your service!

I hadn't seen that you posted that photo. Nothing like dumping it from a dead stop!:huh
Here are a few photos from the trip so far:

da plane. Big Mother. Nice service, too. real food, not just a tiny bag of peanuts, and as many drinks as you wanted.

The other plane...Not quite as luxurious...
Luckily, the trip north was fairly brief.
Next post, I'll show what few pics I have so far of places, and eventually, I'll post the picture of the chain logo on my truck.:deal
thanks again for the sticker, Rob. I'm curious to see whether the brass will notice, or if the "wear and tear" we subject these vehicles to :kboom :eek1 will do it in. I'll take some update photos of it as we go along.

BTW, in a random change of subject, "Battlespace" may well be the WORST movie of all time. :deal
