I celebrated my 40th lap around the Sun by riding and camping solo in one of the most remote and beautiful places in the country -- Canyonlands, UT. In two days and 100+ miles of riding, I only crossed paths with one other vehicle, a park ranger on his truck.

Awesome. Probably one of the best bikes out there for the zombie apocalypse. What are the temperatures like this time of year out there?

All clockwise with a little run to the first section of the Shafer trail as well. I had a camping permit. It was one of the most beautiful and rewarding experiences of my life. Even though it was quite technical and challenging at parts and there was literally no one around, the DRZ behaved like a champ and allowed me to gain lots of experience and I never really felt in danger. I rode with full knobbies which was a huge advantage on the looser sections, especially on the loose dirt of the Murphy's Hogback and Hardscrabble climbs.

It rained the day prior to my trip (and again after I left) but it cleared just enough for me to have fun. By the time I reached the pooled sections the water was mostly gone and there was little mud on the ground. The weather was cool-ish but I was well prepared with layers to shed as the temperatures raised.

Thanks for posting that - been on my want to do list a long time, and I just recently -finally!- found myself with an appropriate bike. Seriously considering a trip there or to Death Valley in the next month or so.

PS - I almost never watch "ride" videos, but I just watched this one all the way through.
