He has the right attitude: “I'm healthy, I'm in a safe place, I'm in a small town, there's about 20,000 people, the weather's great, the food is fantastic,”

Yeah, he seems in a good spot all things considered. And he can contact his family, so patience ~ and a good Spanish-English/English-Spanish Dictionary ~ is all that's needed.

In this video, Itchy Boots learns of Bolivia's plan to close the border and she immediately packs up and crosses over to Peru. And that was 2 weeks ago.

I bet you can get a room in that town for under US$50 per day. And a very nice room, at that. Beer will cost $1-2 per bottle.

Unless small children, a sick spouse, or aged parents were awaiting my return, I'd call home and tell them I was effectively quarantined for 30 days.

A grand or two later, I'd ride home completely de-stressed. Cheaper than therapy!

....Sounds great, unless the virus comes knockin' on your personal door. Hope it all goes well for the travelers still out there, not sure the local medical system will be effective at this point either. Interesting to notice that local ER visits are down to 1/3 as compared to pre-Covid 19 period. Guess many don't think their cut is worth the risk of exposure....or maybe they want to leave the doors open for those who may need more urgent care.

I believe if he passes the quarantine time he will be ok . He will be able to get food and gas . Camping will be his best bet if weather is reasonable. If he gets back to Buffalo or Niagara being a Canadian he will be granted entry. He made a good choice getting into US when he did as the Mexico border is locked down now. I wish him well stay away from people and get home safe.

This is wrong information the US border is allowing Canadians to cross into the US and transit home, I crossed from Mexico to the US 5 days ago and have spoken to a couple people who have crossed as recent as yesterday.

Thanks for that info I was not aware that was the case. The game seems to be changing so rapidly. Sorry for mistaking that.

Yup...Just talked with my buddy in Mexico, they and a few other couples are starting to drive home to BC tomorrow....they have checked with US Border and have been told there is no issues to pass.

They are planning to camp, avoid all major centers and are carrying extra fuel.

I think Buddy's going to have a pretty good story once he gets home. I kind of envy him.

My good friends who winter down in Baja are just planning to wait it out when I spoke to them Sunday. I can't imagine being down there in two months when its hot...

It'll probably still be better than being here in two months.

since there is an itchy boots video quoted, she had quite the hard time with the lockdown in Peru. It got genuinely scary, and not for the virus
