I'll be cruising through the area today on my way to New river gorge, Monongahela, Washington Jefferson. Took the week off and excited about seeing some areas I haven't been. Leaving asheville as soon as this rain passes.... Hopefully very soon!

You may want to see your optometrist.

Thanks for clarifying... wondered why you would stop after spending so much from the ankles on up! To be fair, picture is somewhat blurred when zoomed in.

NO, Lady D. those are NOT the correct dates. The correct dates are Sept 13 thru 15 2019. Thanks for making me check. I had the wrong dates on my calendar.

Looks like a lot of fun, and I'll be in the area that weekend. Hopefully I'll bump into some of you out on the road. I'm kinda limited in what I can haul so I'll be packing light and staying at a hotel in Wytheville.

I depart in one week - Woo! Question...

I am planning to ride some of the Blue Ridge Parkway on my "commute" there and back, but need to be cognizant of time. From my location, there are 2 sections I am considering: the section running north of Roanoke to Wynseboro, and the section running south of Roanoke to Meadows of Dan. If I could ride only one of those 2 sections, which would you recommend I do (and why)? Or maybe I should ride one section down and the other section home?

I ask because I'm trying to avoid interstate roads, but it may become inevitable to make up time. If I have to bail on BRP I'd like to know what the tradeoff is.

Otto, IMHO the northern section of the BRP (from Roanonke) is more scenic and higher elevations. Tho the section from Roanoke to Meadows of Dan is nice, it is not as twisty. If you ride the BRP from Waynesboro to Roanoke, then you may consider settin your GPS to Meadows of Dan, and put in some way points at Callaway, Ferrum, Woolwine. That will be a fun ride. At Woolwine a right on route 8 will take you to the BRP at Tuggles Gap (great restaurant). A left towards Stuart will take you to US 58 and a right up to Meadows of Dan. Have fun, be safe!
