I've been riding sand on an old slow XR 250 with maybe 20hp for several years. It isn't easy, especially when its dry out. I usually would avoid the deep rutted stuff unless there was rain.

I recently installed tubliss front/rear, wow what a difference!

Same tires, Kenda southwick/trackmaster (new) I went from 12/12 down to 5/5 PSI.

MUCH easier to ride especially slow. The bike feels planted even in the deep rutted whoops at low speed. Areas I had to ride hard and hope I didn't crash, I could chugg through in 2nd with no drama.

If you've got an old slow bike with 1980's suspension, or just don't bounce off the ground like you used to give it a try.

Also, 10/8psi is better than running 12. Just don't blast into root wads or pavement corners!
