I'm a half mile over the boarder in Dyer In. Mike C.
Could be worse...
I have been wearing two different contacts lately. It is called monocular correction. I have a nearsighted one and a farsighted one and it didn't take too long to get used to it. Your brain uses the best information from either eye and you get the full range. If your brain can adjust. The warning I got was against trying it at night for a while until I got used to it. :huh It works for me!
Hey Mike, I ride the gravel roads S/SW of you on both sides of the border, plus some sand/dirt roads in Kankakee and Iriquois counties (IL). I end up near Morrocco or Kentland (?) and then take R41 north back home (Chicago).
Know of any good places to ride thereabouts on your side of the border?
For that matter, how about one decent place for breakfast out in the sticks? (Slim pickins down there on either side!)
Seeing as how the precedent has been set, I live two or three miles East of the border, near New Goshen, Indiana. Parents live in Dennison and the in-laws live in Paris. I'm about 10 miles ESE of Paris..
Joliet, IL 60435
They're compulsory in Wrigleyville ...
How's the wee one Scott?
I'm pretty much a lurker so far here.
Late notice, I know...
A small group of us (me, my girlfriend, and one other rider thus far) will be heading for Starved Rock via "MadDad's Route" this Sunday, 08/09/07.
Departure: 10 AM from the Dominick's parking lot at the corner of Essington and Caton Farm Road in Joliet.
Easy, relatively slow ride (girlfriend's a beginner...) on entertaining back roads to Ottawa, where we'll be forced to take the long way 'round to the Park entrance, unless they've re=opened the road. After that, anything goes.
I'll be the tall, skinny guy with the blue WeeStrom. All are welcome.
I've been kicking around the idea of riding in Iroquois County as a pre-run for my Trans Am Trail ride next summer. Care to share some of your routes?

Oh the domestic life of a city boy! Hmmm, wonder how good it is at dodging deer?
How about a photo of the little panic?
43 people on the list so far keep them coming!
Dave, send me a PM with your e-mail addy and I'll send you some Garmin maps/tracks/routes that I've been compiling. I need to spend some time editing and combining them, but they will give you the general area. There are many more roads and areas to explore down there. We could also meet thereabouts and ride and explore some more. You're doing the Trans American? Good for you!
