I have a signet Q size xl that fits decent, I typically only wear it a hour or 2 at a time and it's good. I also have a rxq size xl that is noticeably more snug. Do the xd4 & rxq fit similar? Should I get a xd4 in xxl? I havnt found a dealer that sticks for the big melon.

I just bought an XD4 about a month ago, after wearing my RXQ for a couple years too long. The fit was surprisingly similar, both fit my noggin well in a size large. I'm very happy with it. I did wait to purchase until I could try one on at a dealer, though. My advice would be to go for it, just make sure to get it from a dealer that takes returns, just in case.

If RX-Q fits better than Signet-Q (both in the same size XL), your head is more "round-oval" than "long-oval".
Also, keep in mind that, the way Arai makes their helmet,
Long oval head model (Signet line model) is always longer (about 5mm in size M) front to back, than round oval head model (currently Quantum line, RX-Q also included) in the same size.

If the fit is slightly off, you can do the fine tune.
Look at the thread below. (ongoing project.)

My signet fits better. My rxq fits but I wouldn't want to wear an extended time.

Oh, I see. I thought RX-Q fits better when reading about it fits noticeably snug.

In any case, keep in mind that in Arai helmet line up, rounder head model is smaller than the long oval head model in the same size.
(They don't narrow down the side to make long-oval helmet. They increase "front - back length" of the round head model to make long-oval head model. Thus, Signet series is always slightly bigger than RX-Q / Quantum series.)
And, unlike shoes / boots or gloves, helmets don't stretch out.

If it's just a little bit too tight front - back, you can get thinner comfort liner (crown pad) which practically makes the internal half size larger.
If the side of the head becomes too loose by doing so, it is easy to add sponge foam on temple area, with Arai's design.

There is, very conveniently, a pocket for extra layer of foam already.

Arai matches hat sizes. If you know what size hat/stetson you need, get the same size hood. They measure in cm though

They had XD 4 when they sent the email yesterday. Now you'll have to do more digging to find them that cheap. I got mine for $349 earlier this year.
