    Me too, coop!

Funnily enough JD called me last night and he feels the same way. We spent half an hour chatting and concocting up a cunning plan...

The next leg would take us to Kasol, a nice little town by the side of a river valley up in the mountains.

The bikes were holding up incredibly well, if a bit dirty after there recent ordeal.

That night I guess JD and I were pretty chilled out. We decided to enjoy another curry, washed down with a beer or 6!

    This was the result.

    Yup, thats JD! :lol3

    :freaky

For some reason we both felt a bit drowsy the next morning. It must have been something we ate.

    :rofl

The next day we wandered around the town for a bit, just taking in the local sights...

A few tourists (mostly hippies :lol3 ), but a really nice place.

We were reminded that you can never escape the mighty unstopable Tata trucks!

More to come, including an impromptu meeting with some Shramana, or wandering monks (religious people)...

The next day would be a day to chill out and enjoy the local town. JD and I had no intention of getting on a 'route march', choosing instead to stop and smell the roses at every opportunity and just take in the culture.

We were rudely awaken by some noisy and uninvited visitors outside of our hotel rooms...

JD fancied the one in the high heels at the back :lol3

    :hide

We eventually got up and headed into town for some breakfast. When we got into town we came across some holy people - or traveling monks. The 'Sadhu' as they are called, or Baba by the common people, are common place with at least 5 million of them living in India.

I offerred to buy them breakfast, but they declined asking via some hilarious sign language if I could buy them some provisions (grain and oil) that they could cook there vegetables with. I agreed, and instantly became there long lost friend. They were very welcoming and open for sure. I was even asked if I would like to join them in smoking some hash - I politely declined.

We then enjoyed some impromtu entertainment!

    :clap

I was asked if I would like to join them as they smoked and meditated. I happily agreed, and spent an awesome hour just sitting and connecting with them. We couldnt speak to understand each other, but it didnt matter one jolt. We communicated perfectly well using other means.

    Simply fantastic!!!

One of the highlights for sure. If my new friend Mike Coleman is reading this, then this was one of those defining moments that set me on my new path...

    :norton

We headed back to the hotel, and JD spotted something that was really going to make his heart sing.

A cold can of Red Bull!

    The big guy was happy!

    :lol3

    More coming...

Just read the RR end to end, and I have 2 questions:

    1) what was the budget in US$

    and

    2) when's the next trip? :D

    1) $1,500 all in, plus flights into New DElhi. That figure includes bike rental, gas, accomadation, meals and beer, and we didnt skimp.

    2) 2011... not soon enough!

The next day JD and I would explore the mountains. JD has this knack for finding cool stuff, like an in built good karma compass. I will let the pictures do the talking, but basically JD would ride and I would follow, and then he would see some side road and keep going until we couldnt get any further. What a blast!

Not for those of a nervous disposition. Those wooden slats are loose!

We hardly saw a soul, and what a joy it was just toodling along in such a beautiful place...

It really was spectacular. That whole day was spent with a shit eating grin on my face!

    :D

Hey JD, try and look like your enjoying it buddy!

We saw more temples, almost every road had somewhere the locals could go and worship.

    Beautiful.

It was so cool being able to stop and take in all these sights with no-one around. The best day by far.

There is nothing I enjoy more on this earth than riding a motorcycle in a strange and beautiful land like India.

    Go JD!!!

JD is about 6 feet 4 inches tall, and a big imposing guy. He is also a gentle giant, so it was really interesting to see the reaction from the locals.

I spend 30 minutes 'talking' to this really sweet old lady.

When you have time, the right attitude, and a willingness to be patient, its amazing what you can achieve.

I am penning the final chapter now, and seeing some of our pics I had completely forgotten how dirty we had gotten ourselves on those roads.
