    DJ,

People from Indiana are Hoosiers. So the first friendly :thumb advice is to lose "Indianayians:puke1 ".

I haven't spent a lot of time noodling around in the southeast corner of our great state. So my recommendation here is limited to a road and a place I once visited in the car.

How about lunch in Oldenburg? It's a neat little town with a very Old World look and feel; heavy on the German heritage. I expect it will be easy to find good eats there.

Indiana state road 229 is very interesting, between Oldenburg and US 52. I remember noting to myself when I drove it that I'd like to try it again on two wheels.

I don't know anything about ferries.

    Hope this helps,

Yeah, forgot Oldenburg, and 229 is a HOOT! Goes straight, err, curves, outta oldenburg and drops ya off in Metamora. If'n yer staying in SE OH, jump the bridge at Maysville (William H Harsha bridge, very modern cable stay, very cool) and hit KY 10. Real nice curvy two laner. As a matter of fact, they are all pretty good in that area. My bike and 10 traded punches there once. You could actually loop around and then hit the ferry at Augusta back into Ohia.

We take US1 from I74 down to Lawrenceberg. it has some good curves and elevation changes. Looking at Mapquest it may also be good north of 74 up to 52

I drive that at least twice a week, from 50 to Pribble. The only problem with that road is traffic. Semis clog it up while cutting across to 74, and there is a large commuting population out that way. 1 to 52 is pretty boring, but fast. Very open and straight, with a HUGE hill at the 52 end. 52 itself is pretty nice, but also, too much traffic. I usually ride all the backroads in that area. There are some nice ravel offshoots on 1 though.

Both ferrys went bye bye a long time ago. There's no way across the river between the lawrenceburg 275 bridge and the dam by the new casino in Vevay. The wife's grandparents have 10 or so acres right on the river just past rising sun that I'm the only person who has used it in the last 25 years or so. If you change your mind and count on heading down that way, let me know. Lots of good riding in that area.

I will pM you tonite. I don't have the right disc with me for my Delorme SW.

The ones I can name, Bonnell, Happy Hollow, Fox Run. Don't hold me to those

There is a road a little north of pribble that has a huge gravel hillclimb, I cannot remember the name now though.... I couldn't believe it was a public road.

If you see a guy on a blue-grey NX in black leather and blue jeans, thats me.

I took 2 groups on great rides this past WE I loged over 500 m
Here are a couple of commits I got from riders that chased me through the backroads.

    From Eric(F650DAKAR)

Hey that was a GREAT ride. I really enjoyed the ride as well as meeting you. I think Farrel is right; there is a business there waiting to happen: Tours of South Eastern Indiana.
PS. What a ride you took us on; now the question is can you show me how to ride it on one wheel? After following you the other day clearly you would be the one to teach that.

    From Pierce(GS1150Adventure)
Gary...I had a GREAT time !!...I believe it's the closest I have come to a
true "Rallye" ride here in the U.S...imagine doing that for time...and
competing..what a hoot...except then too many people know about your very
stealth jewel...I didn't get cold at all coming home...I was tired the next
day...I believe i may consider riding my 650L next time...I already am
starting to fab up a silencer insert...take care Gary...thanks again...

P.S...you sure can make that 650 fly yourself !

Residing in Indy, I ride mostly off-road in beautiful Michigan through the summer but have been taking trips from Indy down to Story and Brown County this fall with a couple of GS riders.

Looking forward to getting to know all of you !!

I'm out of town for your shindig in IL this January. :cry

Southern Indiana here. Perry County to be exact. I don't exactly have an adventure bike at the moment but working on a V-Strom 650 to replace my SV650.

Until then, I'm stuck on paved roads with my current bike.

Maybe I can meet you in the middle sometime.

Add me to the roll, riding a RT now but hoping to add a dual sport to the stable. The kids are learining to ride on 100cc dirt bikes, Dad needs to catch up. Anyone interested in ice riding I have a 1200 acre rink in front of the house.:hide

I cross a river on 465 all the time and there are tons of trails down in the bottoms. Someone has got to make a route, maybe you should check it out.
