We want you to join us on October 9th & 10th, 2010. ABATE DIRT will be holding an Adventure ride and will be using LCRP as its base of operations – Kick-stands up at 10am.

Wait, there is a twist, all OHV’s are welcome!

You must either have a licensed street legal vehicle or the vehicle is registered with the Indiana DNR and you posses the state decal. The Indiana DRN state decal cost $30.00/3yrs and the funds go back to the state OHV parks.

We’ve worked long and hard to route this ride so that any and all OHVs with an Indiana DNR state decal or licensed street legal vehicle can join us on county roads…

Yes, that also means quads and side-bysides!

We are doing our best to have a gas stop as often as possible, so get gas when you can. Lunch stops will be set, yet you’re on your own for your lunch.

Please be aware that you will be riding on county roads that pass through farm country and farm homes. Reduce speeds when passing homes to keep the dust down.

That’s right; this ride is open, truly open to all…

Due to the potential for large amounts of dust (gravel roads) we will most likely have several groups leaving the property at different times, to keep the dust down.

Camping will be allowed at LCRP (Lawrence County Recreational Park) as we will be using LCRP as our starting and destination points each day. So, come early and socialize. All park rules apply and FREE camping & NO gate fee will be applied. All county and state speed limits and laws of the road also apply.

Visit and read the Indiana DNR’s website (http://www.in.govdnr/4278.htm) regarding the state’s OHV registration process for more information regarding registering your OHV. The application for the
Indiana DRN decal should only take a few minutes to fill out and to process.

We will not allow you to leave the property without either an Indiana DNR state decal or licensed street legal vehicle. If you are stopped and do not have proper plating or documentation it is on you. You have
    been warned.

Let’s make this one heck of an adventure!!!!

What a cool idea. How long have registered OHV's been allowed to use county roads? Used to be there were only a few counties that had voted to allow their use on the backroads (Crawford and Perry come to mind). In Brown Co. recently there was a push to allow OHV's to use the backroads but the county commissioners squashed it after an outcry from the locals.

    Informacion, por favor.

Excellent!!! Way more counties have been added to the list since the last time I looked. A major win. A real shame Brown Co. wants to live in the stone age and not allow this--they're losing much needed revenue.

Every OHV'er who normally can't ride on the road ought to hit this one.

Ordering a OHV sticker today. Amy will love this one on her little DRZ125.

The neat thing about being able to ride OHV's on the backroads is the ability to connect trail sections legally. Going on the wild assumption that the tiny little sections of publicly held land (the state and national forests) could eventually have a trail through them for OHV use these trails could be connected into a full day's ride by being able to use the roads.

If we could only get the control of the HNF out of the Fed's hands and instead managed by the State of Indiana we might have a trail system someday--but this is a subject for another thread for another day...

Woodsrat, funny you mention a connection trail...
The DNR, not sure how far they've gotten, is working on mapping out a route from Redbird to Interlake on county roads to connect the two parks...

Might have to be included in the 2011 ABATE/DIRT project list to help motivate the state ....:huh

So not to change the subject too much but,
Someone could ride a bike or ATV on any county roads
on that map so long as they have a OHV sticker ?

Well, we are basing it out of LCRP (camping/staging) and will try to have two loops, one for Saturday and one (shorter one) on Sunday, or you could just explore LCRP.....
