Anybody familiar with the hotel situation in Indy? I need to reserve a room and would like to be confident my bike will still be waiting for me when I check out. Looks like I can get a cheap room at the "Econo Lodge South." Yay or nay? Or, can anyone recommend a decent, cheap room on the west side of town, preferably along I-74?

Just passing through, yes, but 3.5 hours west of Indy will be too far, methinks. I'll be riding from Washington D.C. after work Friday. Thanks, though. :thumb

Indy is generaly a safe place. From what I remember, the area of that hotel is on the fringe -- I'd try one of the hotels off Hwy 31 and 465 -- Exit 2B South -- little more upscale.

    MS Streets has these:

    Red Roof Inn-Indianapolis
    450 Bixler Rd
    Indianapolis, IN 46227
    (317) 788-0811

    Quality Inn South
    520 E Thompson Rd
    Indianapolis, IN 46227
    (317) 787-8341

    Days Inn-Indianapolis
    602 E Thompson Rd
    Indianapolis, IN 46227
    (317) 788-0331

Your bike should be safe there overnight. That intersection is one big truck stop. There is not much residential there. I'd offer you a room, but we will be at Mid-Ohio.

What route ya takin? If'n your catching 74 all the way down thisaway, I'm only a couple miles off it. But, 85 miles the wrong side of Indy for you.......
Just in case Indy gets to be further than you thought it would be. :evil

it's pretty safe..not to worry. I lived there for 6 years. If you get a chance, stop at the Indy 500 museum at the track. Neat stuff. john shuck

I'll be riding west on I-70 Friday night, to Indy. I-74 is actually Saturday's route, in the general direction of Glacier National Park. But . . . my trip became very tentative yesterday. Work truly sucks. :bluduh Hopefully I'll know more tomorrow.

    When do you roll west?

You better make it Mush Boy! When in Indy I stay at the Days Inn right behind the dome. About a mile off the freeway but quite safe. Hope you make it. :thumb
